We got the car into gear, out of gear…
…but we when we took off the clutch while in gear the car without giving it any gas the car did not die.
We were expecting the car to die when I released the clutch.
The car is on stands, no wheels on car.
Thoughts??

Not an expert but if it is in the air with no wheels then there is nothing to stop the drivetrain from revolving, as long as it is revolving it will run. The idle speed of the motor is enough to move everything enough to not stall.

Yes, the axle and wheel turn/spin

As Capt said, with no wheels on and with the car up on jacks, there may not be enough friction/ inertia to stall out.

Omg. Why would you think the engine should die? :confused: It's on jack stands, there is nothing to stall the engine.:rolleyes:

You're seeing torque and gear reduction at work...it's doing exactly what it should do.

It's doing that because it's supposed to do that. But running the drive train on jack stands may not be a safety conscious decision.

First, I loved the OMG comment :) I'm not a mechanic so when I have a question I take it to the forum. And the forum has been wonderful...so yes, I'm fair game to being make fun of -- I'll take it with pride
RAM Tech had never tired to stall a car on Jack Stands with no wheels...
I tested again this morning...I put it into gear...the wheels spun, took it out of gear...wheels stopped spinning.
The Hydraulic Clutch as the forum confirmed looks to be preforming as its intended.
Thanks for all the responses.
Side Note -- if you use the RAM Hydraulic Throwout Bearing for a T5 and 302 -- I would look at this instructional install video (use RAM tolerances as recommended)-- way easier to do the math: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XohLNeiOUEw

I had asked a question about what an outer Diameter of pipe was that required beyond simple math to get the answer I should have known a couple of months ago. I was so embarrassed at the time. Don't feel bad or sweat it. These folks are good people and most really want to help :)

Side Note - RAM Clutch, Flywheel, RAM Hydraulic Throwout Bearing 78130 - 5 dark and 1 gold shim for a total of .160 tolerance
Measure twice — hope this helps
First time — I got 2 shims using the RAM video
