Dash mounting

As I near being able to place the body on the frame to begin the initial fitment I am bit confused on the interaction between the firewall and dash. The horizontal half moon bend (top center firewall) that the dash sits on , do they get attached to each other ? If so , would that not impact on the ability to remove the dash in the future ?

No, they don't get attached to each other. There's bulb seal along the top of the firewall along the outside edge of the dash. That's it. Some put the dash on the firewall and the body over. Some put the body on first and the dash over (e.g. ends up inside the bottom edge of the windshield). On mine, I have the dash resting on the firewall and body over. Since the gauge cluster is removeable, I see no reason to have the dash removeable. I can reach almost everything from there plus from underneath.

Hi Kerry

I am building an 818 and I plan on using some velcro to hold that part of the dash in place, so if it needs to be removed it won't be an issue.
