This popped up on my Youtube Interests this morning.
I think it really sums up what people think the first time they are exposed to our cars.

"Millennials Have A Cobra Fear Stake Driven Through Their Hearts."

2L Alfa to a 7L Death Sled? That's like doing retina re-attachment with a sledgehammer.

One minor correction in the video: the originals were not solid axle. Maybe the first-generation kits, but not originals.

IMO, it's not a Cobra that is so scary. It's regular sleds that are so boring.

I am thankful to have grown up learning to drive 1960s and 70s vehicles. Makes me appreciate today's racecars, of which a Cobra is one.

Much appreciation for sharing the link!

Great Point!

Hmmm, Another Great Point!

Great Catch So I Went Back & Watched It Again!

The great thing about these rigs is they are only as scary and dangerous as your right foot makes them. They talk like it is a Balrog from Tolkien's LOTR books ready to slay you and pull you down into a pit of fire. Don't get me wrong it definitely can be but for me it is my baby; and when it is done I want to enjoy it and have a fun but stay well in my limits so I can continue to enjoy for years to come. Autocross will be about as far as I will want to take it. Otherwise.....cruising the back hollow roads with one of my daughters or wife in the Appalachian foothills where I live will be just fine :)

Thanks for the video post Steve. Not sure those guys get it like we do but it seemed they liked it. Driving my Cobra to me is almost the same experience as when I raced go karts as a kid. Visceral, in your face, scary, raw speed and ready to bite you at every turn. And Cobras are so dam sexy too look at!!!

Thanks for sharing. One of the fun things for me was thinking "Hmm the roads they're driving on look familiar" and then coming to realize that this was all videoed about a half hour away from where I live.

I think they wouldve like the grip quite a lot more if they had driven with tires in the R888Rs/NT01/RivalS category. Wouldve been able to put the power down at least, just based on the various reviews its a completely different car when you have tires like those that will hold the power pretty well

I have to admit, I was a bit sad they didn't run it around the track to see what kind of time it would put down. I was curious to hear what they might have had to say about it.

Fun video. I watch some of their stuff. Not a big fan of the silly stuff.

Sounds like they were genuinely afraid of it. They said the one guy lost it. I get it, since they drive mostly modern cars. I had my neighbors Porsche GT3 up to ludicrous speed and I felt like I could have been talking on the phone, eating popcorn, and could have reached into the back for something without a problem. Cars are so good now that they aren't that engaging. A sneeze can put you in another lane in a Cobra if you aren't paying attention.

I have met a couple Cobra owners that rarely drive their cars because it scares them too much.

Not sticky enough tires for 520 HP.

Avalanche,

I'm "That Guy" who had to sneak up on the power by bumping the Rev-Limiter 500 RPM's at a time.
I finally got it up to 6,100 and boy is it a lot of fun.
Still not sure if I'll go to 6,600.

Not sticky enough tires for 520 HP.Get over around 420 hrsprs, and traction is the issue.

I enjoyed my 385hp 351w cheapie Cobra maybe more than my SPF 525hp FE one. Didn't have the good looks or bragging rights at the Burger Doodle Car Night, but I could slam and thrash that thing around mercilessly with the fraction of fear of suddenly driving it backward at speed...

497whp/450wtq here, on R888r tires full traction throughout 2nd gear. Still demands a lot of respect and obviously you cant just drop the hammer in the middle of a turn but in reasonable temps in a straight line traction is unbelievable

I know this is off topic but my 68 hp Suzuki does several seconds better on a tight track than any of my Ducati's (150 hp+). Granted any real straight away and you loose the advantage but a light load with great brakes can do a lot of damage.

Absolutely, thats why I think making that power with a 400lb motor is the way to go :)

That popped up on my YouTube feed a few days ago and I enjoyed their take. There were some great quotes in there:

"This isn't an all-weather car. This isn't even a sun-weather car. This is a RACECAR!"

"Could I own one of these? I feel like I don't eat enough red meat to own one of these. But I could look at it all day."

I also liked when he got out of the car after driving, looked down his shirt, and said "Yup, I now have more chest hair."

They also talked about the reactions they got from other people and how much interest it brought compared to other cars they have driving. "Kids want to know what it is. Dads already know what it is."

But what I really appreciated was that even though they admit it wasn't the car for them; they understood how this car speaks to people and how amazing it would be to build and own one. I felt this was decent review because it didn't hide the negatives (which most here would argue aren't even negative!!!) and talked about why these cars so amazing. You could tell that they enjoyed driving it.

I watched it and grinned the whole time. I can't wait to drive mine when it is finished.

Watching this made me think back to two years ago when a friend let me drive his 427 Mk3 and how terrifyingly amazing that 30 minute drive was. I am so glad I was lucky enough to drive somebody else's FFR Roadster. I went into this knowing that this is a racecar, that it is loud, that it is windy, that there is no traction control, that there is no power assist on the brakes, etc. etc. etc. I also went into it understanding what this car is and that it was the most fun I have ever had in a car.

Thanks for the share!

Tires they were running were not suitable for a good track run. Need R888Rs - NT01 or similar.
