Looking for some help regarding the Shifter location on the new Tremec TKX Transmission I`m planning on the 347 cu in Engine and Transmission package from Blueprint for my Gen 3 Daytona Coupe build. according to Blueprint the new TKX will not have the multiple Shifter location option, I`ll be using an IRS rear suspension set up and have a concern that the Shifter location may be to far back for a comfortable position. it may not be an issue or something an offset bracket can correct. I`m still about a Month and a half out from delivery of my kit from FFR so I still have some time to make changes.

I can't give you a 100% answer because my drivetrain has different components. But I'm betting it's going to be OK. I too have heard they don't have the midshift kit available for the TKX yet. But you still have the option of flipping the rear location. My Gen 3 Coupe has a Coyote (about an inch shorter than your 347) and a T-56 (a bit longer than the TKX). With the rear location flipped around, mine is perfect. I'm guessing your combination would put the shifter in a similar location. The Coupe has two pieces on the transmission tunnel, versus a single piece on the Roadster, and you don't want the shifter up into the front piece. So it ends up being a little further back than the Roadster. All visible in this picture during my build.

If the shifter ends up just a little further back than you like, as Edwardb stated may happen, then a simple shifter stick change and forward flip should do the trick.

Good Luck with your build and let us know how things go because your build impressions and observations will likely motivate several of us to do a future Daytona build.

As always your build has been a guide and inspiration to all of us daring to build a Daytona Coupe. I was thinking I would need to upgrade to a T56 now I can use the extra dollars on other needed parts. My planned use for this car will be just a cruiser and some Auto cross no serious racing.
Thanks for the great info.

My tire and wheel choice will be the traditional 15 in I like the look of the taller side wall. this car will be mainly street and highway driven with some auto cross, the IRS gear Ratio will be 3.55. what would be a good choice of gear ratios for the Transmission for my intended use?

If you plan on any longer highway trips I would get the one with the .6X overdrive ratio, that puts the engine around 2000 rpm at 70 mph range

I'm down in North County San Diego and currently in the early stages of building a coupe. We have the engine/trans temporarily in the chassis right now. You're welcome to swing by and take a look if it will help you with decisions. We also bought our engine/trans from Blueprint. We went with a GM427LS and T56 Magnum, along with IRS.

mark.
