VIRGIN MIKE

Being a couple of weeks away from "paint ready", for the last six months, I am trying to identify/fix rattles and noise before proceeding. The main noise offender sounds like a box of jingle bells on a vibrator belt - it has been suggested the noise is engine clatter being amplified by the exhaust system - and the suggested fix is too wrap the headers/exhaust pipes back past the mufflers. I have read a lot of reasons why this is a bad idea but I think most of that conversation was related to racing applications. If wrapping the exhaust significantly reduces engine noise, I could live with having to replace the headers sooner than otherwise would be necessary.
I am an old guy with hearing aids; the clatter seems to be in the high frequencies most amplified by them - not so bad with them turned off -Duh- but still not pleasant.
The engine is a crate BluePrint (carbed) 347 with DAC headers
