Hello,

Have what I think is an issue that has me scratching my head. Roadster, using the supplied turn signal switch and flashers. Have wired in the converter and temp wired in the front turn signals and rear lights.

When I turn the key to on, the turn signal flasher starts clicking and stays clicking. The turn signals work fine both front and rear. The hazards work fine all around also. I swapped the flashers, same result. If I disconnect any one of the lights same result, it started doing this once I finally got power on without any of the lights temp installed, it continues to click until the key is selected to off. I see looking at the back of the fuse panel that this flasher gets it's power from the cooling fan relay off the ignition circuit? Is this a normal function until it is running?

Almost to the point of starting it but wanted to see if anyone had run into this, thanks much.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you either have the flasher directly powered (power not going through the turn signal switch first) or the turn signal switch is mis-wired such that there is always power to the flasher.

I'm assuming you have the Ron Francis harness and this answer will reflect that. There's nothing normal about how yours is working. Something is wired wrong. Power for the hazards is a battery circuit. Meaning the pink hazard flasher wire has +12V all the time. When the hazard switch is turned on, the +12V is applied to the lights on all four corners through the flasher. It's a separate circuit from the cooling fan. No interaction there at all other than both are battery circuits. The turn signals are an ignition circuit. Meaning the grey turn signal feed has +12V any time the ignition switch is on. The +12V is supplied to one side or the other through the flasher depending on the position of the turn signal switch. You need to thoroughly troubleshoot your wiring. Confirm you have it wired exactly as shown in the Ron Francis chassis wiring diagram. As narly1 said, the +12V from either the hazards or turn signals (or both) are sending voltage to the lights even when not switched on. That indicates incorrect connections.

Yes yes, verified 12+ volts at the flasher at all times with the key on, that is why it is actuating even with the turn signal switch off. One by one pulled fuses, disconnected switches, lights etc no change. Verified all the wiring is indeed correct as per the RF schematic.........and then. Checked my notes on the schematic, here comes the duh moment.

About 3 months ago, I installed the e power steering. Ya know how the hot rod harness is not used? Yea well I terminated it, except for the Gry turn flasher fd wire.......I used it for the switched 12v source for the adjustment rheostat on the steering. I'm assuming it was back feeding from the steering system causing the constant voltage at the flasher. Disconnected that and no more continuous clicking, all lights work as they should.

Thanks for the responses guys, always helps when your stumped.
