I know the manual shows routing the battery cable and possibly other wires down the driveshaft tunnel, I have started down this path with my wiring. I have quite a bit as I have mounted my trans control unit on the back side of the rear cab sheet metal and have those wires coming into the cab area as well. I'm not sure I like how it is looking, if I stay with this I will have to do a lot of clamping of the bundles at the rear of the cab area to ensure there is space maintained between the driveshaft and the wiring.

Like others that are using an automatic, I mounted a trans cooler at the rear of the chassis and for that I ran the lines under the chassis right at the trans mount, wondering if I should do the same with all the wiring?

What have others done?

Thanks, Gary

For what it’s worth, I didn’t like that idea either.

My main battery cable is pop riveted to the cab floor using Adel clamps on the pass side, as far away from the under frame variant of my exhaust as I can get it. Pass side as I’m running a BBC so starter is on pass side.

All the smaller wiring I ran inside the cab, just in the corner between that heavy steel panel in the seat and the floorboards, then placed carpet on top. My seat is raised around 3” so I have room…

The thought of a driveshaft going kaboom and then taking out 50%+ of the wiring in the truck was not a thought I could live with.

My 2c…
Cheers,
Pat

I didn’t like the idea of running anything near the driveshaft either. I ran my 0 gauge wires under the floor, along the outside edge on the passenger side. I’m not installing running boards so I routed my starter cable and an engine block to battery ground up in that area. I am running some smaller gauge wire in the cab, under the carpet or possibly up around the door, behind the flange.

Good luck!
