I am thinking of going with a Coyote 3 gen (instead of a 347), but want PS & A/C. Looking for folks that have done that and suggestions & pics of the process. What works, what doesn't, what to look out for and where does everything fit best. Any pictures would be great!

This is pre-build planning for next year, so thanks in advance...

Vern,

Many options but the 2 that I have used successfully are Mike Forte’s AC/PS solution as well as Vintage Air’s Front Runner system.

Simple solution: KRC 66302125 Coyote power steering setup. Buy yourself (Summit, whatever) or also what Factory Five supplies as their PS option for the Coyote. Then mount the A/C compressor in the stock location. The KRC setup doesn't affect it. Note also the stock alternator and water pump locations aren't unaffected. I have this setup on the Gen 3 Coyote in my Coupe and it works perfectly. Pictured here.

Thanks Edwardb

That sounds great
What about the condenser and air handling unit? Where did you place those, and have you had a chance to try it yet?

Thanks Henry,

Do you have this setup? Trying to get a sense of which setup would be best. Planning on also installing a soft top as well.

Sorry, the installation referenced is a Coupe as I mentioned. I haven't installed A/C in a Roadster. The Coyote portion pictured would be the same, which is what you asked about. But I can't cite any experience with the rest in a Roadster. For the Coupe, FWIW, it's the Coupe heat-A/C kit from Factory Five. Condenser in front of the radiator and evaporator under the dash. Pretty typical. Yes, it works. Nearly 3,000 miles in its second season.

Thanks for the info, and good luck with your build. Expect to start mine next July.

I am running the same setup as did Paul but on a 2nd Gen Coyote. My application is a Mustang restomod, so choosing your heater/evaporator unit will be more of a challenge. I am using a Vintage Air evaporator, condenser and dryer setup for the Mustang. I suggest you call Vintage Air and discuss what you are planning. I believe the heater I used in my MK4 kit from 2011 was a Vintage Air unit, so they are likely to understand your space limitations. Others have done this already, so hopefully someone will chime in and identify the evaporator they used. In my discussions with Vintage Air, there were no issues running their AC components with the Ford Coyote compressor, they will all work together.

Some folks likely not aware but I think the harder part is the evaporator housing. The common one is from North Race Car but there is a fitment issue w the Gen 3 version.

Assuming that is your concern then I would talk directly with Richard Oben and understand what the issue is and what your options are.

The rest is straight forward, especially if you use a version of the electric hydraulic pump for the power steering. (Toyota MRS, Fast Freddie, likely others)
