I have a roadster with FI the diet harness and my A9l with a tweecer. MSD ignition. It had been runing fine and it started falling on its face like hitting a Rev limiter and then it died.
I changed the solenoid but it is doing the same.
What options do I have as far as other systems even if I have to change the wiring harness?
Thanks.

I went this route.

If I was doing it today, I may have gone this route.

I had the PIP and Ignition Control Unit fail on my MSD distributor. Sounds like you might have the same thing. Replace them as a pair and use Ford brand stuff. The Ford stuff fits the MSD. Much simpler than changing the engine control / harness. Remember to use the correct control module, there is both gray and black types. I believe the MSD comes with the gray one.

Are you going to try an figure out what is wrong or just replace the fi with new?
Do you have fuel pressure?
What MSD? MSD seems to have bad reviews on quality, (so far mine is working!) but I don’t know if your symptoms would fit?
In my case, hunting down fi problems, the fuel regulator went bad, and the fuel pump hanger whent bad and caused a lot of grief!
Where do you live?

I would still contact the service center. Of course, the desire to repair the car with your own hands is commendable, but if you are not sure of the cause of the malfunction, then it is better to turn to specialists.

I have the msd 6 pluss. I had completly forgotten to check the tfi.
I just don't want to be chasing gremlins but something like a bad msd could be the culprit. I live in Brownsville TX.
I have about 4 new tfi modules sitting at home. I do have fuel pressure. 40 psi.
I need to fix it before jumping to a new system.

By pass the MSD6. The engine should run just fine without it. If that doesn't help try the TFI. I went though a couple of TFI's before I replaced the PIP and TFI as a pair. Something in the PIP was causing the TFI's to go bad after a few thousand miles. Replacing both together appears to have fixed my issue.

Makes a lot of sense will do thanks. I always wonder about the msd.
