I'm looking for some way to measure performance - 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile etc.

I just downloaded Race Stats and iAccel apps on my iPhone and was curious if anyone had tried them? I'll do a few runs at the weekend to try them out. It seems that they use GPS and phone accelerometer, but could be garbage for all I know. But hey, they're free.

What is the next step up? Does anyone have any of the dedicated boxes to test this? Are they significantly better than the GPS+sensors in a phone?

I found this old article Do Inexpensive Performance Meters Work? (https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15389122/do-inexpensive-performance-meters-work-feature/), but it's really old (2005) so probably pointless to read at this point.

I found VBOX - a bit more than I wanted to spend just to play around.

Thanks!

Thanks! But I don’t know my HP. But I’d like to find a local dyno to answer that too!

The Dragy seems to be pretty popular with the street race type cars

and comes out of Texas to boot

Forget the numbers and measuring performance, they're only for braggin' rights and bench racin'. Find a straight section of open county road and hit the loud pedal, your butt dyno will put a smile on your face and that's what really counts.

Remember to drive responsibly and always obey traffic laws when others are watching. Have fun.

Ha I’m doing lots of that too! But I’m still curious :)

If you are just looking for 0-60, 1/8 and 1/4 mile data get a DRAGY. Simple to use, not too expensive and easy to use in multiple different vehicles. You will learn a lot about the fastest way to launch your car from a standstill by watching the 60ft times.
