LUND Tuning

Hey all, as of now I have a LUND tuning and in the process of fine tuning. I purchased the tune in December of 2020 before their price went up. Here is a brief synopsis of how its going.

1. Followed LUNDS tune parameters and data logged the process. Emailed LUND the results.

2. Received email and loaded a new (R1) tune. The car became drivable at about 2k rpm +. Performed another data log and emailed the results.

3. Received email and loaded (R2) tune. The car a lot more drivable. LUND requested a WOT for next data log. Then came the cold, did not do anything with tuning for about a month or so.

4. Monday the 7th of June, drove out north of Chicago to open road country and performed a data log and WOT in 2nd gear. Sent LUND the results LUND adjusted IDLE RPM down from 920 to approx 810 (when hot) ill verify they can come down to about 750 at IDLE. LUND also indicated the AF ratio was a bit rich at the higher RPM rang while doing the WOT and cut that down. I sent them another data log and was informed that the throttle was bout half way this time. Lund sent me tune (R3) and I loaded into PCM. I did another 3 plus at WOT (made sure this time to floor it plus I was at 112mph in 3rd) and sent the data log to LUND before I drove home (back to Chicago) in the traffic and heat.

5. Tuesday 8 JUNE, I was out for the count for a stomach flu. Wed I checked email and LUND responded with and EXCELLENT (guess the pulls let them see the info they wanted) and included tune (R4) with "Excellent! load this up and lets repeat please."

6. Wednesday 9 JUNE, Loaded the (R4) tune fired her up and let her run to normal operating temperature. She PURRSS nice, the exhaust sound is good. Driving her home with the (R3) was great on the 7th. exhaust was not as loud as before the R3 tune. Ill have to verify the idle RPM with the data log to see where it is at and verify if they can adjust if need be.

Congrats on your success. What Generation Coyote is your engine?
Mine is a Gen 1 and the tuner had problems lowering the idle. I think I am at about 850 rpm. It has become a non issue now.
Sounds like you survived the WOT runs. It gives me cause for concern, when I read an owner does this. I am concerned they get into tuning before doing a shake down run and having an alignment. Depending on the gear used for the WOT run, the speed, as you stated can get high.
Anyway, glad to hear your tune is good.
If you happen to be a Gen 1 owner, what is your charging voltage? I need to check mine, due to a thread on the other site.

RR im using the gen 3. as for charging im at a 14.6v.

Thanks for the insights on the process. I always assumed that it was a 'one and done' process where you send a file, get a tune and you're done. Is it pretty typical to have to go through multiple iterations like this before getting to the final tune? What parameters were you able to customize? Did you play at all with throttle pedal response? There are devices out there like the Pedal Commander that let you customize throttle pedal sensitivity but I thought I'd heard that Lund could also customize that as part of their tune. What hardware did you use for data logging and uploading the custom tune?

Good to hear. Have done three Lund tunes. Two for me. One I did for a buddy. All took multiple iterations until both of us liked the results. They were always happy and willing to go until then. I even had a question several months after my Gen 2 was done. So logged another run and sent to them. Responded right away after looking at it. Just too bad they raised their prices so much. They do a great job and for many the only option. Business must be very good. And yes they can adjust the throttle response. I've had them do that a couple times. No need to buy a third party solution for that if using their tune. Mine were all done with an nGauge input/output device. Looks like they're using a different product now.

John, I did not adjust or mess with the throttle response, all I did was the tune per LUND's instruction. I had LUND adjust the idle, and it was adjusted for "Idle is raised in our calibration from stock. helps with throttle repsonse, and anti stall".

I used the NGUAGE which I think they no longer use. Not sure why. Ill drive it this was for a bit see if anything changes. Also, the drive to London will help with monitoring the tune.
