View Full Version : E-brake floor seal?

What is everyone doing about the open area in the floor where the e-brake sits? I know a boot goes over the handle but it doesn't seem like it seals the hole.

I'm thinking it needs some kind of rubber seal to prevent water, debris, critters from coming up into the handle area and possibly through the boot.

Thoughts?

My kit came with P/N 34750 E-brake hole cover, I have not reached this stage yet so I can't comment how this installs. Might check your box of sheet metal parts, mine was packaged with the door template pieces.

Thanks for the heads up. I did get one of those and used it for the hole on driver's side. I don't believe it's for the handle side.

I didn't think about that...

Most leave it open with the boot covering on the top. It's really not an issue. There's quite a bit of air pressure under the bottom of the chassis. Water and debris really aren't a problem. You're on your own with critters. :p That hole is the least of your problem if you've got 'em. FWIW, all the other FF builds are the same. Roadster, Coupe, etc. I've driven them thousands of miles including in the rain and never had an issue.

you can perhaps fit a rubber mat with a slot in the middle over it? Should also keep some of the noise out...

You read my mind;). I was glad to hear what Ed said, but I’ll sleep better at night if there’s something there. So I bought some thin sheets of rubber that I’ll cut to fit and attach before installing the Dynamat heat shield.

Thanks
