Fender Supports

I am not sure I like the way the the front fender is supported to the engine side cover. I was thinking of adding a support inside the engine side cover front to back to attach the top of the fender to. You guys have any ideas?

Had some room between from of motor and radiator used a piece of ⅜ all thread between fenders

Copper or SS tubing sleeve would look cool around that all thread.

So if you are running side covers like I am. A SS tube with all thread down the center c/w a SS washer against each end up against the inside of the side cover with a washer and nut on the outside under the fender. I have machine shop capability so I could machine a flanged end for the SS tube. GREAT IDEA Virgin Mike. It would look cool in the engine bay as well.

I was disappointed with how floppy the fenders were on the truck. I bolted 2 bolts in each front fender into the grill frame, 2 into the grill mount SS bracket, and fabbed a bracket off the motor mount to support the center of the fenders (2 pics attached). They were still floppy. So I added 1 layer of 4mm Coremat and 2 layers of 1708 fiberglass to the inside of the fenders, which was a huge improvement. Unfortunately, they still vibrated with a rough idle so I added a 1/4” x 3/4” SS strap between the engine side cover and the outer fender behind the tire. I added a second SS brace from the frame to the fender up next to the headlight. This was a huge improvement, but I still get some vibration with rough idle.

On the rear fenders I also added Coremat and 2 plys of 1708 fiberglass. I added a structural brace from the frame to the lower bolt on the back of the fender (2 photos attached) . Then I added a 1/4” x 3/4” SS strap between the bedside and the outer edge of the rear fender. This was also a huge improvement, but I still get tome vibration with rough idle.

What kind of rivnuts are the ones I see in the last picture

I assume you are asking about the cross shaped rivnuts through the fiberglass. They are
S25MG280 Steel PRE-BULBED Shank, Multi-Grip Rivet-NUT Gold ZINC Finish, 1/4-20 X .020-.280 Grip Range (Pack of 25). I bought them on Amazon. They expend to the cross shape to provide a much larger grip area in materials like fiberglass. They also have a much larger head on the front side.
