Black vinyl vs. leather? Are the shaped the same and just have different fabric covers?

Looking at the pics on FFR, they look quite a bit different but it may be the pics.

Diamond stitch? Worth the money?

Thanks!!!!

Seats are the same just different covering materials, the leather has a pretty nice feel to it.

Agreed the vinyl and leather Roadster seats are the same shape/configuration. Full disclosure and to avoid disappointment, the leather option seats are leather seating surfaces. The back and some of the edges are vinyl. I've had both. The leather ones are nice, but I'm kind of on the bubble whether they're worth it. I like the diamond stitch ones they introduced with the 25th Anniversary Roadster. But a little goes a long way. Some overdue the diamond stitch IMO.

For what it is worth I had the same issue when putting together my kit earlier this year - from what I heard (and edwardb seems to confirm) the vinyl is pretty similar to the leather. I ultimately popped for the vinyl and have to say the material is pretty good and I'm perfectly happy with the decision. Decided to spend that money elsewhere in the build.

X2 for me.

Captain,

For me, the Big & Tall Leather Seats really were a big improvement over the standard vinyl units that my friends have in their Factory Five Cars...My dash, transmission tunnel, and door cards are vinyl, while the seat surfaces, steering wheel, parking brake, and shifter boots are leather...I was fortunate to find some Marine Nagahide for the dash and transmission tunnel top that boasts a similar grain style to the leather seat tops so they all work well together.

My only complaint was the lack of support in the seat bottoms...I remedied this issue by adding plywood seat bottoms with 3/8" Foam Exercise Pad between the wood and seat bottom cushions which was an easy upholstery job that I was able to tackle...Even though my seats only have leather surfaces, they have a much richer look compared to my pal's vinyl versions...The two different materials types actually complement each other which ties the interior together.
