Hi all, ran into a big of a snag tonight installing the driveshaft. I had a feeling it went in a little too easily...

I think the pic says it all. The ebrake bracket is sitting right on top of the flat of the rear flange of the driveshaft. No way they clear each other. As far as I can tell this stuff all goes together only one way and this is all standard design so I'm confused to say the least. What did I miss?? Or am I going to have to move the ebrake bracket?? Thanks in advance.

I'm running Coyote (Gen 3) + TKX + 3.73 Torsen rear diff.

Hard to tell from your picture. will the driveshaft actually rotate? If so its ok since you have IRS. where did the driveshaft come from? I haven't seen that aluminum end from FFR. Looks a bit bulky compared to what I have seen. I would start by trimming the bracket until you can get it to spin. I never really cared for the cables being that close to the driveshaft but so far no issues.

When I built #8674 several of us reported the driveshaft came close or interfered with with that corner of the e-brake bracket. Just trimmed the corner off to get clearance. So that's not a particular surprise. But I haven't seen the driveshaft that close. Can you trim it enough to clear? You could remove a significant amount of that corner and it would still hold the cables just fine. Maybe the bracket was welded too far over. I suspect that's a hand placed item during assembly, e.g. not fixtured. But that's just a guess.

Edit: I mis-read the picture. Forget what I said.

The additional bulk of that aftermarket Sonnax yoke in comparison to the OEM style is probably exacerbating the tight clearance issue. It’s pretty simple to remove the bracket and fabricate a replacement to relocate the cables—-I’ve done it a few times when using alternative brake handle locations.

Thanks guys. I will look into trimming the bracket down. I don't think it will clear even trimmed, but good to know that moving the bracket is not a huge deal. I'll keep you posted.

I'm happy to report that the interference looked worse than it actually was. Used the die grinder to take off about 1/2 inch and it's good to go. ~3/8" clearance to the bracket now. Thanks again.

I remember fellows trimming that cable bracket years ago, on the earlier non-IRS models, because of the yoke hitting it when going over bumps.
