Hey guys,

I need to find a way to store my Coupe's body while I work on the bare chassis.

I'm a little bit limited on room, and I don't really want to put the body outside, so I wanted to hang it from my garage ceiling.

Is there a best way to do this? Points I should lift from, points I shouldn't?

I was just going to put a thick cardboard tube across the inside of the roof and hang it from there, whichever way is the most balanced.

Here's a picture of my garage if that helps, I wanna hang it above the other car. I'm planning on using six eyelets screwed directly to the wood supports in my ceiling.

Thanks in advance!

Others have inverted the body against the ceiling and then strapped it down.
The nose you can set on end somewhere and pack stuff in front of it.

Id be concerned about the glue holding the tube together letting go over time.

jdm Most of the body is light weight, and I put the roof in that category. Some of the body is structural, and that is where the mounts are. Without experience with your body I would guess the rockers are structural and the cowl somewhat structural.
If the body does not balance from the structural points, a lightly loaded supplemental support at a non-structural point should be OK. The risk is that over time, a poorly supported body could distort.

Great, thanks everyone!

I'll report back with my solution in case anyone else wants to do this haha.

I think the roof should be strong enough to support the rest of the body

Just remember that depending on how long it’s going to be up there the body could deform from temp changes if it’s just hanging from the roof.
The manual shows how to properly support the body if that helps.

I hung mine from ceiling using two canoe hoists, works good.

You can build 90% of the car with the body on too which is what I did.

Sorry for the upside down pic.
I was able to fit a car under the structure.

We stored our gen1 body and nose sitting flat on the garage floor. Already being 8 years old and never having been off the frame (still duct taped), there didn’t seem to be any harm. So far only the oversized molded areas need attention.

That's good to know. When I get mine I might do that anyway just to save the space.
