Recommended Tire Sizes, Mark 4 Roadster

Sorry for a common place question, for Mark 4 Roadster with 17" wheels, 17x9 fronts and 17x10 rears, what is the recommended tire size for best traction and body clearance? Live axle 86 Mustang rear end and Mustang four bolt SVO front disc brakes (causing slightly wider stance).

255/40-17 in front (they fit the 9" rims better than a 245/45-17 does) and 315/35-17 in the rear.
