Hello all for those that have the breeze cubby, how did you get to the roll bar bolts? I am not there yet, just looking at how things will go together. The breeze cubby wall goes in then body goes on then roll bar is put in. So how do you reach the bolts, through cubby hole in cockpit? Seems small for us with large arms and hands. Am I overthinking it? Thanks

Cheers

Chris

It take some contortions. Plan your bolt orientation wisely then fit and drill with the body off. I’ve gotten a couple of cars in for paint that the guys didn’t think ahead and it was kind of frustrating when I had to R&R.

I think way easier to reach through the cubby than trying to crawl into the trunk

given the cubby directions say to mount the cubby wall about 11" back from the rear cockpit wall, what's the theoretical max you can push it back until it interferes with the body?

I would suggest making the cubby wall removable. Rivet aluminum angle on the floor and sides and attach cubby wall to those with machine screws.

I am there now. Like Jeff said you have to do it ahead of time before the body goes on

You don't trust Mark's directions?

I made my own cubbyhole and made the separation wall removable. Not to concerned about roll bars, more concerned about redoing seatbelts in the future.

nothing about trust, just wondered how far folks have pushed the inner wall back until it runs into body issues... either way you're losing space in the front or in the back :)

I think that much beyond 11" you're going to start running into interference issues not just with the body but also with the rear diagonal of the roll bar(s) unless you want to start notching the rear wall for the roll bar tube.

Thanks John - I'm measuring from the bottom of the opening back, I'm at 11.5" and will probably leave it there...

do tell about your strut setup! I like the top mounted struts - is it in your build thread?

No, I didn't mention the struts in my build thread, as I didn't think they were anything terribly exciting. They're installed pretty much as indicated in the FFR "Trunk gas struts installation instructions" here (https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/TRUNK-GAS-STRUT.pdf). In the photo above, the end that connects to the hinges is disconnected and laying on the floor of the trunk for now.

Here's another shot of them installed:
