I am finally upgrading to power steering and just ran into my first parts compatibility issue.

The new Power Steering rack is a Mustang 93 rack and it came with inner tie rods. I still have my rack extenders that were provided with my Mk4 complete kit so I am fine there.

My new inner tie rods are a good 2" longer than the ones that came with my flaming river rack and if I cut them down I will not have enough threads left to properly engage my outer tie rods.

When I originally built the roadster I had to cut approx. 1/2" off each inner tie rod to get everything right so I am already right where I need to be length wise.

I will try and remove the inner tie rods from the manual rack and perhaps salvage those but I am not sure if they are compatible.

Both sources for the shorter inner tie rods (Factory Five Parts and Breeze Automotive) do not have them available.

Does anyone have a good part number I can use to order the correct parts.

I have an 87 power rack (same as your 93) and just used the stock Mustang inner tie rods of the same vintage. The rack extenders are installed and everything fit once I cut 1/2 inch off the driver side tie rod. Maybe the manual rack is wider than the power rack and that is throwing your measurements off.

I bought the PS rack from FFR in late 2018. I include that information because I don’t know what year Mustang rack it is. I recently replaced the right side inner tie rod and bought it at NAPA - part number 2692472 (https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=2692472&referer=semantic&se=1&txtUser=)

So, not really all that surprised but I was provided with the incorrect inner tie rods.

For those that are interested the correct part number that I feel will work for me is Moog EV117. These tie rods are 11.55” overall in length and I will still need to cut them down but they will work. Not sure what the long ones I got are for.

I will update when I’m finished with this mess. Rock Auto seems to have the best price on these.
