Our regulations require a tow point on the front of the vehicle. This can be a screw-in eyelet.
Where would be a good location to mount a screw tow point on the 33 frame?
thanks

Does it have to permanently attached to the car? If not how about one of those short webbing straps with a loop at either end?

From what I can understand it needs to be a permanent fixture, although an eye-let can be fitted when needed....

Yeah, that's hard. I've wanted a tow point, but it needs to be out in front of the grill ideally - I've been towed out of gravel traps and you need to think that the strap may be coming from any direction.
Everytime I think about it, I come back to fabricating one to bolt onto front LCA bracket, that comes out around the side of grill and in front. Can still be quite subtle metalwork I think - but has to be damn strong.
[But, if it's for tow trucks, road use, perhaps just attach to the triangle that mounts the side panel 'glass?)

Mount a L bracket to the front suspension upper control arm bolt? I have one at the rear 3-link panhard bar bolt . It’s made of a 2” length of 2x2 angle iron. One bracket flat has a 5/8 hole for the bolt and the other flat a 1” hole for the tow hook.
Alternatively you can find a eyebolt or eyenut to replace the upper control arm bolt/nut. Finding a long enough eyebolt will be a challenge.

What if you welded an internally threaded piece that looks something like this to the frame
147783
and then had a threaded eyebolt that screws into it that looks something like this:

You could even have a jam nut on the bolt to make it that much more secure but still have the ability to easily remove or re-install it after the inspection.

What got me thinking about this was the original style 33 Ford grilles. The FFR supplied one doesn't have this feature but the original Ford ones had a hole for (I believe) a crank starter in them near the bottom. Maybe a special long eyebolt could go through there and then screw into the part on the frame?
