818 - How did you cover the naked area on the steering column between the steering wheel and dash?

Most people compress the steering column (myself included). This usually fixes the gap and puts the steering wheel in a more comfortable location.

Is there instructions somewhere on how to do so?

Squeeze the outer sleeve at the point where the inner sleeve exits. There are obvious pinch points there. This allows the inner sleeve to slide freely. You may have to beat on the innermost shaft with a hammer to compress it (can’t recall how we did that part). But once that’s done everything should move freely. Adjust as needed.

I used this method:

After you compress the column, you'll have to relocate the mounting points down. Back in the day, I picked up a nice CNC bracket from Rori but these can also be made for cheap out of some scrap metal.

I thought I liked my steering wheel location, but now I'm questioning it. Kinda wish I never asked - ignorance is bliss. Please don't tell me the mirrors are adjustable too.

If you're proud of your steering column COVER, sharing a photo would be much appreciated. Google searches of 818S/C Interiors not turning up much.
