Hey all
About to order tires 17 inch I see the masses like the 555 G2s I have the FFR Halibrand 17x9. 17x10.5 wheels. My question is I see builds with 245 ,255 and 275s up front . Ok pros and cons of those sizes up front. Thanks

I like 255/40. I think the 245/45 is a little stretched on a 9”rim. I run 275 in the front of my own car, a Mk3, but they can wind up kind of tight with the Mk4’s slightly smaller wheel opening depending on spindle choice and alignment settings.

What tires do people recommend for the 18 inch rims, is it the same as the 17 inch?

Just a heads up that the 255/40/17 Nitto 555G2's are on backorder and no date in sight when back in. My tire shop says "they must have been on the ship trapped in the Suez Canal".

275s up front on mine with 18s and at -1 degree of camber and 4" front frame ride height rubs eeeeever so slightly on my untrimmed fenders only when driving it hard through corners with mid corner bumps. FFR standard 18" wheel specs with Toyo R888R tires 275/30 R18. Should be fine with the same alignment settings and fenders finally trimmed. If you are not planning on building a car that will be driven hard on track with some regularity I really dont think the 275s up front should be considered.

My opinion is that the NT05 is a much better fit performance-wise for these cars. Unless you are planning on a lot of wet or below freezing driving.
I agree with 255 up front.

I've been buying from Discount Tire for decades so try them if your shop is having issues.
They have the tires (255/40-17 Nitto 555) in stock:
