My father and I are finalizing the body fitment and windshield fitment before sending our MkIV off to paint. I've heard a rule of thumb to have the windshield raked back at 51 degrees and 27" from the top center screw of the windshield vertical mounting bracket to the top of the door latch plate. We can achieve that, but the combination of our adjustable seat/angle and my 6'1 frame has my line of sight about 3" below the windshield frame. Not the end of the world, but not ideal either. We noticed that increasing the angle of the windshield makes a big difference. However, when we increase the angle to 53 degrees (approx) it also increases the measurement from the top center screw of the windshield mounting bracket to the top of the door latch to 28.5".

We don't plan on installing a convertible top.
The rubber seal along the bottom of the windshield is still contacting the body.
It appears we have enough room to drill for the wipers in front of the windshield.

Is there any reason we can't adjust the windshield this way? Is there something we're missing?

Brian, I don't think I would change the angle of the windshield you are going to make the car look off. I think the trick is going to be the seat mounting. After I had "bought " my car I had noticed the seats were mounted directly to the floor. This was to low for me, I am 5 10. I fabed my own brackets out of unistrut. With this you can adjust the seat anywhere you want front back and up down. 147232

I see nothing wrong w/ standing it up a little. I think you'd have to go pretty far for it to be picked out by anyone.

...27" from the top center screw of the windshield vertical mounting bracket to the top of the door latch plate...

That’s incorrect. You want approximately 27” from that screw to the door/body gap at the rear of the door, not to the strike plate—-that will have it laid back way too far.

Good catch Jeff! thanks. I'll remeasure.

Brian, I'm 6'6" and found the standard windshield angle to be fine. The Kirkey seats sitting on the floor help move you lower than normal in the car.

We fabricated our own adjustable seat brackets that angle the seat similar to the breeze design. We've probably sacrificed a inch or two in height in order to gain comfort and adjustability. Its good to know that you don't have any issues at 6'6. I think we'll be able to find a solution.
