I was told when I started this project Patients patients. But holy cow!!!! Just informed yesterday front spindles won't be here until maybe JUNE. Anyone else having the same problem?

Yes. My seats are in the same boat as well.

Yes. Waiting for them too. Last update I received a couple weeks ago was late May or early June. That's been the promise date for a couple months now. I don't know what other backordered parts you have. But I put the rest of the front suspension together (upper and lower control arms, steering rack) and moved elsewhere. I'm far from running out of work. Sure I'd love to have them and button up the front. But overall it's not going to slow down the build.

Not that it makes any of us feel any better... But watched a video today about kit planes. Huge factory backorders (12 months plus) and parts issues all over the place. Ran across the same thing in the boat industry. RV's, same. It's everywhere.

ya I am working around them as well. I am sure I ask this before is yours a full fender truck? I would like to order tires and rims but can't until the spindles are here.

Yes, I'm doing full fenders, running boards, hood, engine sides, the works. I already have my wheels. Wheel Smith 18 x 8 spoke wire wheels. They're 5.00" backspace and require 1" wheel spacers. It's a proven setup used on Factory Five builds and several others. I'm planning 245/45ZR18 on all for corners (no stagger) but waiting until much later in the build before buying them. Generally not a good idea to buy tires any sooner than possible. No point is aging them out while sitting in the garage for the build.

Why do a lot of people order 5" backspacing with plans on adding a 1' spacer?

Why not get 4" backspacing?

A spacer seems like a week link to me and adds the possibility of an alignment issue?

Just curious....

I didn't question this setup. It's been used with these wheels and the Truck by several other builds. As I understand required for these particular wheels to clear the brakes and also provide the proper spacing to the body. Fenders in this case. As the spoked wheels are custom made and not cheap, not interesting in trying reinvent anything. Good quality 1" spacers (e.g. hub centric) that are properly installed are not a weak link. I've used them in the past with no issues. Including alignment.
