I spent the weekend putting in the carpet and am quite pleased with the way it turned out. I have two pieces left to put in and they are the drivers side front floor and the DS right side foot box. I have seen pictures on thios forum off wear pads being sewn into the carpet. I noticed in gokart stage the right die of my foot was creating a fair amont of drag rubbing on the side of the footbox. So I think a piece of slick rubber sewn in may work well to reduce friction. Can anyone tell me where they got such a pad? I looked onn Metro Moulded Parts and they have a selection but they are too big or too small. Any help would be appreciated.

I ordered mine from:

https://www.heelpadwarehouse.com/

Mini on the bottom and cut down a small for the side.

You can go to a big-box home improvement store and get some rubber tile for the side. I actually did the floor of both foot boxes and they look great for 14 years now!

Here's how I've done a carpet wear pad on several builds. Also from heelpadwarehouse. (Who knew?) Their Mini Heel Pad (5 3/4" x 11") trimmed to fit.

Same here. One on the right side footbox, and another larger one (not shown) sewn into the floor mat that covers the carpet.

Edward, you do nice work. The red car you have pictured is beautiful, do you get windshield glare from the white stripes reflecting onto the windshield. I wrote about this on another thread thinking that it was camera angle but from every pic I see out there it looks like a lot of glare to the point of almost looking like a blind spot. Is that the case or do I worry too much.

Thanks. Yeah, I think I posted on that other thread. It's not an issue in my experience. I've had three red w/white stripes Roadsters and never felt like glare of the stripes was a problem. Don't recall even seeing to be honest. I recall someone mentioned usually wearing polarized sunglasses while driving. I almost always do so maybe that helps. If you look for it you may find it. But I'd suggest not worrying about it.

The heal pad is totally worth adding. I cut down a cheap carpet from Walmart to fit in the bottom of the footwell .. and made sure to keep the heal-pad in place. It's getting pretty beat up, so I'm glad I did it. Easy to replace.
As for the side-slide.
I put a piece of 12"x12"x1/16" black ABS plastic sheet along the side where the gas-pedal goes. I feel no resistance at all when my foot brushes against it. Was easy to just glue in place, and cut the carpet to fit just to its' edge. Plus, being black, it's a perfect blend for the carpet.

I just purchased a heel pad (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FRCCQVB/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_JHK2B6C58A2GGFMMT74A?_encodin g=UTF8&psc=1) on Amazon and installed on the FFR floor mat. It works quite well.

Thanks these are all great ideas. The side rubbing of my big foot makes the side carpet a must for wear protection and the floor I will get the FFR carpets when they are in stock.
