Ok so I think I finally resolved my headlight switch issue. For those who may face the problem in the future I was having trouble with my headlight switch. When I followed the wiring configuration from FFR my interior and parking lights wouldn't come on. I connected a couple of the wire connectors together(on the headlight switch) and that worked for a while but Then all my lights would shut off on me while driving.

I ended up having to buy an electrical tester thingy (what do you call those things again?) and basically connected the power and ground wires to the headlight switch. Then pulled the headlight out to test which connectors were getting power. Once I knew which ones I connected the headlight, interior light, and parking light wires to those and voila it worked. (different from the FFR instructions btw).
FYI, make sure the red power wires go in the right place. I had them switched around by mistake.
I wanted to make it so that when you pull the switch halfway my interior and parking lights would come on, then when I pull it all the way my headlights would come on as well,.. but I couldn't find a connector that didn't have power halfway out but had power all the way out. oh well..

But that is not what this thread is about,.... Just when I told my friend recently that I'm finally getting to the stage where I'm confident that things aren't going to fall off the car when I drive it something went wrong.
My Cobra died on me in the middle of the road.
Started it up and drove it home.
What is happening now is that when I start my Cobra and run it on idle to warm it up it keeps dying on me. Even after the engine has warmed up. I increased the idle rate just in case, it ran for a bit longer so I took it out. As I was driving it, I kept getting these sudden but substantial hiccups from the engine. As if it wanted to die out. I pressed the clutch and it kept going. but only for a little while.
at one point it just died on me,.. while in gear and driving normally.
What could be causing this?
Any ideas?
Is it electrical? Am I losing electrical power to the engine, or somehow activating a kill switch? Is it related in any way to the head light switch issue? (I wouldn't think so since it's on a different circuit but,...)

Carb? EFI? More specifics on the engine please. Recent thread on the 'other' forum re: same type of issue. The advice there was sudden off = electrical. Stumble, chortle, etc, = fuel supply.

You said, "run it on idle to warm it up it keeps dying on me." Does it drop off immediately, or stumbles down to off?

What is your coil setup?

Need alittle more detailed info, definitly is it sudden/quick or is it slower and boggy?

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the lack of detail.
It is a Carb engine (351 Windsor) from engine factory. Has like 1400 miles on it.
It seems to drop off suddenly. It's not like a car running our of gas. It just shuts off.
The only hesitation I have in saying that is that when I drove it last it would get these hiccups from the engine. Like ,.. how can I describe it,.. like the first gasp of a car running out of gas,.. but only the first gasp. Then the engine would run just fine. But when it died while I was driving it, again it just died. as if someone turned the ignition key to off.
It strikes me as electrical,.. especially since this has happened after I've had electrical issues with the car.
I did not wire the car myself.
long story short.
soon after driving it (for the first time), my interior lights and parking lights stopped coming on when I pulled out the headlight switch.
I noticed that if I connected two of the wires together they would come on. FFR said it was ok to do.
Soon after that, all my lights would suddenly shut off and flicker on and off.
I tested the connection on the headlight switch and reconnected the wires where there is power (instead of splicing and connecting them with electrical wire).
Now lights come on just fine,,.. but I'm getting this problem.
Isn't the headlight on a completely different circuit then electricity going to the engine?
