With spring having finally arrived, there are a lot of things I need to do to include finishing up the car. I keep looking back at the build forums to pick up ideas. Unfortunately our coupe is a gen1 and most others are later generations. One of the mistakes was to order a Corbeau seat like a couple of other builders have done. Unfortunately when we went to test fit it there was no way it was going to work. So, any one looking to buy a Corbeau’s DFX non-tilting seat with sliders, it’s for sale. We ended up using the supplied Kirkey seats which turned out to be quite comfortable.

I’d finally finished wiring all the gages but installing the dash as supplied limited the access to everything in that area and I hadn’t finished with the VintageAir system. So we cut off the top of the dashboard which gives you complete access to everything. Good idea because the light in the tach was bad and had to be replaced.

We finally decided to start the engine having finished wiring the Holley Sniper EFI- no problem there other then a radiator cap that was wrong. With the engine running we decided to take it outside. Our shop is located in an industrial area with a 100yrd. long driveway. I’m surprised how light the non-power steering is! As I made the 90 degree turn onto the driveway and applied some throttle it
surprised me as the car hung its tail out! A quick turn around brought a couple dozen people out of surrounding businesses to see and hear the spectacle! A quick jab of the throttle had the car rocket away.

I returned to the shop and noticed the brake pedal going almost to the floor, a result of air in one of the front calipers. We also found that the lug nuts were loose a result of never fully tightening them.

We then did a quick test fit of the body and found that the rear apron needs about 2” trimmed off around the gas tank. Luckily a friend who’s built a FF5 roadster has a local body/restoration shop who’s going to help out with the baby fit and finish.

That’s all for now.
