Has anyone build a Mark IV with a 2.3 liter EcoBoost? We have an inquiry out of Taiwan that is interested in having us build one. To title in Taiwan, the car must meet stringent emissions requirement and supposedly no V8's currently can meet their requirements. Anyone that has built one, is building one or who has investigate using this engine, I'd like whatever assistance you can offer.

thanks,

Ford has yet to come out with a control pack so using that engine in the aftermarket is really difficult.

Ford performance website has the 2.3 as a crate engine and has a control pack listed so I would think it is available. Lsswap.parts and the parts farm offer takeouts with a modified harness and pats delete on the ecu so that would be an option as well. I have not seen anything for the v6 eco boost. Looked at them as I dream about a truck or 33 build. Thought about putting it in the coupe as well but think I would want the v8 rumble in that one. Top of engine is Slightly smaller overall than the coyote, but shifted to the drivers side. Centerline of engine may need to offset to the passenger side to make it fit, but it is only approx 1 inch so it probably would all still fit. website has a dimensioned drawing available. Motor mounts would need to be custom as the block is narrower than the coyote or I thought about modifying the mount on the frame and using the factory mounts on the engine. Always thought I would use an AWIC for compact size as the turbo intercooler.

QuickTime lists bell housings so it should be able to be mated to a tremec otherwise the mt-82 or 6r80 would bolt right up.

If someone doesn’t need the v8 rumble, 310hp (or 350 if you could find a takeout from a high performance pack mustang) and a nice flat torque curve would seem to be adequate.

Hey PhilO,
I too had seen the Ford Performance website. All of our other clients seem to want to cram more engine into what seems to be an ever smaller space. I don't have any experience going the other way. Physically the engine fits, I was just hoping someone else might have already tried it so I don't have to figure everything out. First time always has unexpected hurdles and gotchas. Thanks for your insights. BTW we have had some very bad experiences with The Parts Farm. We bought a couple of Coyote's from them and the salvage titles they provided didn't match the VIN's. It took 6 months to get the matching titles. I won't go back. Maybe my experience is unique, but, I need reliable suppliers.

Hey Greg,

I'll reach out to Bill for his insights. BTW looks like Ecobeasts.com is dead as the url is available.

Thanks for the lead on Bill...I'm not much of a Facebook user, but I'll check them out.

J,

We completed a project for a client in France last year and have one starting soon for a UK client that will be starting very soon. I am pretty familiar with the pitfalls of international trade. We purchase quite a few materials from the far east, and it always makes me anxious to pay in advance and then pray the material shows up. So far we have not had an issue.

We require payment in full before we ship or an irrevocable international letter of credit. Client is responsible for export and shipping across the pond. We will transport to the export point. We'll see if the deposit shows up. thanks for your cautionary insights.

Chris

Thanks for your words of caution. I was burned many years ago and so
