What do people do with unused dash holes? I have a different horn button than what the kit came with and after much goofing around with it I think the best solution is to cut a new hole for it as it’s significantly smaller in diameter.

Does the dash covering just cover the hole or do I need to find a way to fill it in because it will leave a funny indentation ?

Thanks

You could silicone or epoxy a small piece of aluminum to the back then fill in the rest with more silicone.

I had a similar situation when I drilled two holes in my tunnel cover in the wrong place. What I did was attach a piece of aluminum to the back side of the panel. I riveted that in place with flush rivets, but it can be siliconed/epoxied in place. Next, a bit of body filler (Bondo) to fill the indentations and sand smooth. Any indentations or bumps will show through your covering material, so take the time to fix the hole while you can.

Yeah Jesse, what Mike and Dave said! Cut and glue (JB Weld or Epoxy) in a "patch" for a filler. Whether you use a foam underlining or not, most like likely the hole will show itself with a small depression or subtle irregularity if you don't add gap filler and support it. All the best...

It is very easy to make your own blank dash and tunnel cover. I bought some aluminum from Aircraft Spruce, used the old pieces as templates and cut my own. I brought both to a shop to make the bends for a minimal charge. That way I made my own competition dash layout and tunnel cover opening.

I used a blank dash and had to fill one hole I made for my signal light switch. I cut a piece of aluminum that exactly match the hole and one a little bigger. The hole size one was glued in the centre of the big one with JB weld. After that set, the patch was glued to the back of the dash completely filling the hole.

Consider using some oversize trim rings. You can use them on the front and back to sandwich the dash material.
Your choice of color to emphasize the button or match color, so it will blend with the dash color.

Make the hole bigger!

I recently moved the horn push to the RT indicator stalk which left the old button in the dash with no use. I used a 1-3/32 chassis punch through the dash and vinyl and made the hole bigger, then fitted a cigarette lighter to use as my 12V outlet
