FFR provided supplemental instructions for the 11.65" 2015 IRS Brakes. What is not included in the instructions is any information about the flimsy vibration clips included with the brake pads. After a couple hours of fooling with these things I decided someone must have encountered this before and has a handy way to install the clips and pads. I have been unsuccessful in keeping the clips in place while trying to get the pad installed. Help please!!
OKAY - no one else knows how to do this! Here is what I learned - for anyone who reads this in the future. I called FFR and they said, "yes, they are wonky! Shave a little off the ends of the pads."
I shaved a little off the ends of the clips so they would sit in the caliper correctly. I also shaved a little off each end of the brake pad so they would install easier. Then, with help from a friend holding one clip in place, I installed the pad away from the piston. Then, with the caliper pushed as far towards the piston as possible, I installed the second pad. Having done all this, the second round of installation on the other caliper went fairly easily. It really did take two people, however.
Finally, these calipers are from a 1993 Ford Mustang GT - (For when you need new pads)
