Thought I would post on my search and test fit of my new hood struts. Long story short is back in Feb when Texas was snowed in, below freezing and cats and dogs living together.... i was working on the coupe and lowered my hood (during the cold) and one of struts went bad. checking the forms to see what other options are out there since the replacement are 98 bucks and long lead times. I found some on Amazon. almost the exact same, length is 35.5 vs 36 (longer) and the pound rating is 30 from 20. for only 60 bucks for 2 it was worth a shot. Fit was perfect. same size mounting balls and the extra closing/raising pound seems to hold up the hood better.
So far so good.
Manufacturing part number is ST360P30N10
Amazon search is Qty (2) 10mm Nylon End Lift Supports 36" Extended x 30lbs
hope this will helps

Good notes to write down for the future. So far my hood has only fallen on me once ..mostly due to my own carelessness. I can see how a stronger push could be helpful. Thanks for sharing.

If you have the time, a lot of small parts like that can be sourced outside of F5. Their stainless coolant hose kit, when in stock, is $170. Summit has them for under $100. They don't make these themselves so they gotta source them from somewhere and make a penny on them.

This is a little late but found a selection of struts at pep boys and on line at amazon- $16 pair and they fit and work. FF5 sent me a pair that didn’t fit anything…

You may find that the extra tension could cause the hood not to meet the cowl properly when in the closed position.

Hi guys. so far so good. no issues with the gap between the hood and cowl. only a few months with them and haven't really cycled the hood open and closed a bunch of times. Time will tell. On the waiting list for my Paint and Body guys. Hope to have it to them in the near future. Doug

I found the Gasspring shop online and they had an impressive spread sheet for choosing the proper strut and laying out the mounts.
I needed light struts for the front, and heavy struts for the rear (all custom). The first issue was they did not have silver rods for both ends, and would not have silver rods in the future.
I ordered black rods for both ends. The front arrived, no word on the rears.
I layed out the front body mounts per the spread sheet and installed the ball/brackets. I layed out the hood mount and test fit the collapsed spring assembly. It was 0.5 inches too long. I moved the mount out one inch and fabricated aluminum bosses to take the ball/bracket on the FRP hood. Works great.
Lesson, measure twice, drill once and wait for the rest of the oder.
