That will be scary fast at those HP levels.
My build is on YouTube at cobra Daytona build.
Welcome to the factory five family.
I am looking forward to seeing your build.
jamminj
04-02-2021, 11:40 AM
yes I'm using gen 1 hope I dont have to lock the phasers
my intake is 240 duration and 570 lift
my exhaust are 246 duration and 576 lift
the rate of lift is aggressive also reaching full lift quicker than street cams
using the 2020 gt500 oil pump (20%)more volume and Travis at boundary pumps
ported oil pump gears
hoping to be able to control the cams.
I'm waiting my heads actual cfm's tested
but ive been quoted intake cfm 383@.600 lift and exhaust cfm 273@.600 lift
so these cams will make good use of these ports

Jammin,
I have a coupe 65 r coming in a few weeks and didn't order wheels from FFR. For some reason, I can't get a straight answer out of anyone on their aftermarket setups for wheels and tires. Have seen lots out there that 17/18x10's upfront and 18x12" in the back is possible on these cars. Can you tell me if you have confirmed any of this with your Forgeline GA1R 18" wheels that you are looking at?
jamminj
04-22-2021, 09:19 PM
i have the wheels but not the car yet
they came off my mustang the offsets are wrong but I'm going to be making my own a-arms front and rear
but my friend is building a type 65 now and i was going to take mine wheels over there and mock them up
it will be a few weeks
i can let you know after that if you haven't figured it out by then
jamminj
04-22-2021, 09:33 PM
by the way 18X12 should work if the offsets are right
ffr should be able to help with that
I'm assuming your running Toyo r888r 335 30r 18

Is the closed deck something that is done regularly or something new for this build?
It looks like the first pictures you posted are with sleeves but they don't look like they're there in the most recent block images (but maybe that's the lighting). I do see the counterbore for them in the CAD images though.
Thanks for sharing more pictures, it's fun to see!
jamminj
01-20-2022, 04:52 PM
first pic was my original build I was going to be running 1300 hp with Edelbrock 2650
but that all change when I ordered a Whipple 3.8l and I started another build, and these are the new pics
I'm going to end up with 2 complete engines when I'm done so I guess I'll need to build another car later
Back to your question the spacer adds more uniform support to the Darton sleeves for more than 2000 hp
And no, it's not done regularly just for high boost

Thanks for the explanation and the video. Totally makes sense now and I figured I missed a step in between haha.
I'm familiar with Subarus and the EJ engine when they machine it similarly for a closed deck setup but I've never seen it on the Coyote platform. Should be a monster!
jamminj
01-21-2022, 02:28 PM
Yes, I think all of these closed deck design started with either Subaru or Toyota don't know who was first
we will be running MLS gaskets with the O-ring cut right behind the fire ring in the block around .008 above deck without receiver
I've seen 2js with 80+LBs of boost at over 2000 WHP
we have good flow so we will probably only need to see 38-40Lbs to meet our goals
copper gaskets (that like to weep) need a much taller O-ring and receiver
jamminj
01-27-2022, 08:32 PM
This engine is similar to mine but mine is being built stronger
my interference water-jacket supports won't fall in the engine like those in the video did
and we are using a billet Winberg crank which will keep the crank from walking the main caps

There is an actual reason for my madness
originally, I was looking for 1000+ whp
but then I saw this and decided that's what i needed to do
and I called my engine builder (Will) when he informed me, he was friends with Kevin at m2k motor sports
and was all over trying to help me do 300mph
so off to the races

So, what aero enhancements will you be adding to get you close to that number???
It'll take some major aero help to get you anywhere close.
jamminj
03-01-2022, 05:41 PM
too much aero is bad at that speed the down force is so great you could literally push your car into the ground
with the big wing that you see on joe's car 1700lb's at 160 i assume at 300 it would be roughly around 6000lbs of down force

with the big wing that you see on joe's car 1700lb's at 160 i assume at 300 it would be roughly around 6000lbs of down force
Without some added downforce, it'll lift and become unstable way before you reach your desired speed.
Skuzzy
03-02-2022, 07:39 AM
While downforce is an issue, I would consider reinforcing the body or the fiberglass could disintegrate. Any buffeting, at all, would be akin to taking a sledgehammer to the body. There are areas of my body (arrived 11/19/21) where the glass is just over 1/16" thick. The front radiator opening and the rear of the roof were the thinnest on my body.
Made the mistake of trying to raise the nose of the hood up by grabbing the front grill/radiator opening and a piece of it came off in my hand.

I would take the car to a wind tunnel to test what it will do at 300MPH. You don't want it flying off the ground at 290MPH!
There is a wind tunnel in Utah, if I remember correctly, that my son is going to use for his Bonneville run in 2023/24.
jamminj
03-02-2022, 11:41 AM
Bonneville is tougher to much downforce and your tires will start spinning on the salt
at Bonniville the objective is to make an airplane that flies at ground level scarry
There will be downforce I will have a splitter and a wing mounted to the frame, but I will be careful to have the right amount of down force
I've been informed that the guys at m2k motorsports are in the loop

Well, the Holley's are purpose designed as LED lights, the other is just a conversion on a halogen design.
If you go with the fist kit, get the Hella housings, they will give the most correct look and a good light pattern, and still less money than the Holley's.
The only question in my mind with those is whether the LED bulbs are very good, poor quality LED's may still be bright, but the light pattern isn't very good even in a quality lens housing.
jamminj
04-13-2022, 08:43 AM
the first kit has replacement bulbs at $179 per pair (could keep back up bulbs in car)
with Holley you will need to replace the unit
Holley's are probably better
not sure which way to go

Holley says the bulb is replaceable in theirs too, as a unit with the pigtail.

And, if you buy the first set and get the Hella housings, they should come with the halogen bulbs, that's how Hella supplies them.

So are you making a duplicate the supplied FF frame in chromoly. Are you physically stiffening the frame further, than the standard mild steel frame? Did you cut the wall thickness of the chromoly?
Cutting the weight of the car does not seem intuitive to me. Aerodynamics will come into play long before weight will when trying to reach 300MPH.
jamminj
01-25-2023, 08:37 PM
this is a sfi 25.1 spec frame and scca
I used the frame from ffr for a template.
if you look closely at my pics, you will see that it is not the same as factory 5.
It needed to be made out of chromoly.
Also, it needs the main hoop to connect directly to the rocker bars and the number 1 bar.
the number 1 bar is the bar behind the seats at the floor and it needed to be in 1 line.
and i need a funny car hoop and diagonals at the doors.
as i go on I'll keep posting more pics.

the weight cut is a bonus for drag racing ever 100lbs is a 10th.
stick shift class here I come.
if I can drive mayby we will see 6's
I've also made the car easily fit 28 x 10.5 drag slick/radials it will actually fit 29 x 13 with possible body issues.
and it will easily fit 345 in the rear and 315 in the front.

thanks, skuzzy.
i work about 90 hours a week but i made myself a rule that i do a little on my car every week so that it doesn't get stuck in a corner for years.
everything takes forever if you want it accurate.
Proudly tutting my own horn
today i checked in all my measurements in relationship to the face of the knuckles.
and the distances from main spherical bearing to my lugs(i don't know what to call them) and everything is uniform.
and virtually exact from side to side
made it really easy to find my centerlines for the rod ends.
I'm going to start drilling right now.

Hello everyone.
this is the email from Will Roland owner engine builder at
https://rpgracingengines.com/gallery/
I'll be down there for a whole day of dyno tuning from pump gas to race gas to e85 and then finally methanol.
I'll be videoing it all and then posting it here.
"Good afternoon my friend,
I hope you and your wife have been well and hope the car is progressing well. Things are finally smoothing out here with us and after a lot of trial and error the SuperFlow engine Dyno is officially up and running!
We have a handful of engines to Dyno and run through, but you will be the first one we will be doing full power pulls on, we are going to get some baseline baby pulls done to get some mapping done over the next few weeks then we can plan on meeting up later this month to do the full on power pulls and watch this baby sing up to 2000+HP!
Stay cool and thank you sincerely for the enormous patience and kindness for us, it is God sent.
Thank you!
Will "

I started out in life as a starving furniture builder.
I now build cabinet doors for cabinet shops for a living.
the walnut cabinet was made 100% out of air-dried Claro walnut slabs.
resawed book matched panels and radius drawer fronts out of the same piece
the rest of the pics are figured hard rock maple
all moldings and turnings and everything were made by me.
the dowels on the corners of the cabs were corner cut while square the i glued a square back in the corner with a newspaper separator then hand turned into dowels.
then removed the glue in corner so I could attach to the cabs.
all molding were handheld in place until dry no exposed nails or screws on the entire job.

Rear control arms done.
control arms lost over 1lb of unsprang weight.
rims and tire lost over 10lb over stock mustang wheels and tires.
rotors and calipers lost about 13lbs over stock irs stuff.
that's 24lbs per corner in the rear.

15" wheels will fit over these 4 piston Brembo's

the control arm angles promote anti squat on acceleration.
the driving forces at the rear tire push the body up.
at the same time weight at the engine is being pushed under the instant center to fight the forces trying to cause a wheely
also, anti-lift on breaking in both rotational and inertial.

I CNC cut 5.2 MDF to mockup part to attach rod ends to
after a few attempts and recutting parts I got it right.
now I can email my dxf files to my friend to cut on his CNC plasma cutter.

the a-arms are tack welded in place and fully attached except the toe links.
none of the supporting attachments are installed.
I'll do that after I figure out where all my suspension component will go.

Have you considered the knock down factor for welded structural aluminum components? It's nearly a factor of 2! Welded aluminum spindles would scare me.
jamminj
12-20-2023, 10:13 AM
all the components I've welded are 3/4" thick and have been chamfered 3/8" both sides and welded from the root while sitting in a pan of water.
I'm absolutely not worried at all

I build cabinet doors for cabinet shops this is what I'm working on today.
I like to show what I'm doing I'm not trying to sell anything.
in 30 years of business, I haven't had a day that I haven't had more work than I can do.
quarter sawn white oak heavy flake shaker doors
i wish my customer could have afforded solid panels.
but it adds 40% to the cost of the doors.
so the panels are veneer instead.
