I am not running AC on my MKIV. The previous builder had the FFR AC delete pulley with the kit. It was already installed with the belt on when I bought it but had never been started since the engine was overhauled. About 6 months ago I had the first start. I noticed that the belt had come off the AC delete pulley by one groove. I decided to shim the AC delete pulley by adding a washer to push the pulley towards the front of the car. It seemed to work. Once I got the car driving and would torque the engine, I noticed it went back the other direction, and the belt started to squeak. I went with a smaller washer to no avail, so no matter which way I went the belt would pop off a groove and actually ruined one of my belts.
After talking with Richard Oben from North Race Car, I decided to delete the AC delete. Now I had to come up with a new routing and belt.

This is what I came up with:

The idler wheel with the blue arrow on the original set up was not grooved but with the new routing it would need to be grooved. This is what I came up with. The one on the right is a Gates 36100, or top because the pic did not align properly. I did turn it and mount it backwards because two other individuals mentioned that.

This is the belt I used.

And here is the final product.

I post this only because I’m sure I’m not the first to deal with this and won’t be the last.

Thanks for sharing. I’ll likely do the same. I have a squeak and suspect the AC delete.
