I have got the engine and tranny mounted and set 383 SBC and a 700R4. I have started fitting the tranny tunnel. On my other builds I have used a Lokar shifter and have not had any problems. But it seems a little tight for the shifter rod to fit between the tranny and the tunnel wall. What type of shift system have you guys used on a 700r4? And have you had any clearance problems. Has anyone used a cable shifter?

I'm using a Lokar ES4L60EFMP Sport Shifter in my truck build with an LS3 and 4L65E trans. Very similar footprint to your 700R4. It uses a cable and I was able to route it successfully from the shifter down around to the trans. Fits inside the fiberglass tunnel OK.

What did you end up going with and are you happy with it? We have the 383 and 700r4 and are trying to decide

Same set up as you. I have a B&M Pro Gate. Uninstalled at this point but you can install it anywhere in the cab.

I have a similar 4L70e and went with a lokar tail mount shifter, in hindsight I think their case mounted shifter would fit a little better as the rod linkage is a little tighter to the transmission. You probably want an 8 to 12 inch shift lever that angles back if you go that route.
