I'm looking at a Saginaw power steering pump that puts out 1,250-1,500. I search around and can't find anything about the Mustang power steering rack (specifically 1996 Cobra Mustang).
Do I need a pressure reducer, or am I good?
Thank you in advance!

You definitely want the pressure reducer. I put a Saginaw style pump on my car from CVF without it. Dam near wrecked the car when my steering inputs were magnified. Happened way too quick. Put the pressure reducer in and haven’t had a bit of trouble since.

I have a Saginaw as well. You want to reduce it to 800-850 psi. There are a number of solutions. Reducers are the cheapest. I used this.

CVF offers an inline option.

Did you not see the Saginaw part number I posted in your last thread? 850 psi.

In fact I did not notice that. After reading your information, I added the March brackets you suggested to my account, and looked and they suggested the March Saginaw and I figured it wouldn't hurt to do the full set. I didn't even notice the PSI difference in the one you suggested. Thank you for the heads up!

I ran a pump from a 99 Explorer. I am pretty sure it is a Saginaw style. I clipped the pressure relief spring some just like we used to do w/ a Mustang pump but even before clipping it was nothing like Sdonnel's experience. They come in either built-on reservoir or remote reservoir styles. In spite of the pic on the box, this is the remote style #.
