Plans for my Coupe

347 Dart with better performing cylinder heads and cam
TKX 5 speed

1. I am purchasing a ford performance fly wheel, is this any good?

2. I am looking for a good clutch that has higher torque capacity (maybe 550 - 600)
Any recommendations?

3. What is an engine guard? Is that the same thing as separator plates? (stupid newbie question)

I don't have any hands on experience for clutch and flywheel yet, but you may want to look into this twin disc from Tilton: https://tiltonracing.com/product/ford-small-block-internal-bal-tremec-tko-5-spd-st-246-twin-disc-clutch-kits/

There are a couple of forum members running in Coyote configurations (although I'm not one of them). Another recommendation is Bowler Transmissions. Those guys are fantastic and super knowledgeable.

Ford Performance flywheels are fine. They have several billet varieties that are excellent. There are lots of other name brands that are fine too. Since you self-described as a newbie, one word of caution. Stock SBF's are externally balanced. Meaning the flywheel and harmonic balancer on the front of the crankshaft are purposely out of balance to balance the engine. Some are 28 ounce. Some are 50 ounce. Very common for aftermarket setups to only be 28 or even internally balanced by adding weight to the crankshaft. This is something you need to check and get right.

For the clutch, lots of good choices there too. My one caution is don't radically over-clutch it. 550 - 600 is a lot for the typical 347. Unless you're running a double disk setup (nice, but expensive) that 550 - 600 clutch is going to be pretty heavy pedal pressure compared to something lighter. Gets old fast if you really don't need it.

Engine guard? Maybe you mean block plate? Flat metal piece that's between the back of the block and the bell housing.
