I'm not a huge fan of the plastic heater vents that come with the kit. Particularly not a fan of attaching them by screwing through the plastic tab. Seems like that will fail after some use. So I looked online to see if I could find an upgrade, but the only thing I could find was other cheap plastic heater vents! Has anybody found a more robust heater vent that they like or have you modded the kit supplied vents to make them more sturdy? Thanks!

I have the Vintage system in my MK3.1, which came with the black plastic ball vents for the footbox area. They are still hanging in there just fine after 10+ years. Try to locate them where there won't be any interference, such as when climbing in, or out of the car, and they should be fine.

********** has these.

The description says "die cast" and chrome finish. I didn't use these (I don't have defrost vents) so I can't confirm the quality.

I mounted mine up under the dash pointing down. Can't really see them when sitting in the seats. They blow plenty of air so no need to have them pointing backwards into the passenger compartment. They are solid. Mounted with a couple rivnuts and bolts one on each side.

This is how I mounted mine. I believe will just work fine.

I went a different route. I also did not like the thin plastic mounts.

The vents for my Vintage Air kit allowed the vane housing to unscrew from the vent body. I ditched the plastic 90* mounting bracket & drilled an appropriate size hole in my aluminum under dash panel, then mounted the vent through the hole. They're very solid.

Same here. I didn't use the defrost vents, instead I used the defrost part of the plenum to plumb two additional footbox vents (2 each for DS and PS).

I bought the finish line vents and couldn't install them. The problem with these is if you have already cut and installed the plastic ff5 vents. The footprint is not the same and you don't have enough space to drill new mounting holes next to the existing holes. I'm sure with some work and fiberglass you could get them to retrofit.

Not looking forward to installing the heater and vents
