short history
my car has a few miles on it and up till a while ago the body held up well.
Then I encountered a deer on the interstate at night. A deer that choose the wrong direction to do.
144027 144028

This all happened just a short time before the London Cobra Show. So we did what we could to fix up the car with red tape over the cracks in the fender

144029

and at the 2019 London Cobra

144030 my granddaughter and I made the trip with no issues!

Then my wife kept telling me she did NOT like the red tape on the fender. Her words were "Will you just get a new body!" Till finally I ordered a new Mark 3 body to replace the broken one. BUT the old broken body is being turned into a two seat "sofa" and the front end into a wall item in the shop with working headlights!

I took a chance on the BOCES Body Shop trade school. Let them do all the work to get the body ready for, and painted.
The pictures are the result of ALL their work!

This is what they started with. The doors and trunk lid are carbon fiber.

One day maybe one of them will take over for the young master, Jeff! :)

There is hope for the young kids - and they are not all guys either!!

Great job and color too! Glad to see that they had a chance to practice their skills. How many want a ride when its done?

IF I can get it reassembled in time I may offer a few rides to them, on The Glen track, during the opening weekend at cruising speeds!!

You just created some real car kids by having them tackle this major overhaul.
They will remember working on your car above all others, forever.
How Cool Is That? >>---------> Pretty Darn Cool!

Ralph
your car looks GREAT!

I had my MK-II done by the local vocational high school in their auto body repair and paint department - These were high school kids looking to get into the automotive body repair field.

That being said, I won a few trophy's for "Overall Attention to Detail / Paint", and "Best Paint / Color Combination" in the car shows I used to attend. And I have to say, the paint has held up extremely well over 18 years. I get many comments from on-lookers about my paint job. I still get asked to come back to the school for their "open House" to show off the level these kids are performing at, and I'm proud to do that.

I have been amazed at how hard these students worked! I bought them some "swag" from FFR - shirts, hats, cups, etc.
I also agree with the posts above - these kids are the future. And skilled labor is getting difficult to find!

What you have done is admirable but what they have done for you is stunning, the trust that you bestowed on these young technicians will be forever remembered in their career.
Totally agree that a ride should be in their future, even a ride to the local ice cream parlor for a scoop or two will be the cherry on top.
Just beautiful

Very nice Ralph, what else have you been updating on your ride?

R. Button

Walt... As long as the body was off - installed ALL new wiring - a Ron Francis kit I had been carrying around with me for a few years. Replaced all the lights with LED lighting included curtesy led lights under the dash. Purchased the new carbon fiber dash with glovebox and got it installed. All new carpeting with leather trim over the transmission tunnel. Installed a radio with a small display and a backup camera installed to it. Welded reinforcement to the tranny tunnel - to keep the driver door from popping open during auto-x! Pulled out the power steering as I'm working on a bracket to install the epowersteering kit for a Mark I. Installed a new manual rack. And lastly took off the single carb and installed a dual carb! Just a few little upgrades!

I think you are going to like the AVS-2 Carb set-up because they work and who doesn't love a Cobra with dual 4-barrel carbs.
These things run great plus changing step-up springs, metering rods, and adjusting the secondary barrel flapper is a snap.
I'm thinking of upgrading from the standard AVS-800 to the AVS-2 version, because of the annular primary boosters.

not nearly all I wanted done this weekend as adjustments for work often happen. Got the weather striping install on all the edge of aluminum panels ... well almost all seems I did not measure well so 30 more feet coming from Breeze Automotive to do the trunk area.
Began putting pieces together and installing the D weather striping on the hood, and trunk. Drilled out the holes for the headlight buckets, etc. while I wait on the weather stripping.

Then before I could leave the shop I got one of the microfiber cloths I had and spent time cleaning finger prints off the body! Geezzz... I'm thinking I NEVER did that with the other body!
I even though about getting some good wax for it ... I may need to check in with a shrink!

The other body is out in the cold!
