Does anyone know if someone makes a drop down base for the oval Cobra air cleaners to allow for a 2.5" thick filter?
I really like the looks of the original air cleaner but I want more air flow and there's no room to go up!

I don't have any knowledge of drop bases for an oval. But before you pursue the drop base further, do you have the clearance between the bottom of the base & whatever throttle linkage (cable or mechanical) you intend to use?
The reason I ask is that when I went from my oval air cleaner to the 14" round, I went through three different bases before finding one with enough clearance.

I have enough clearance for a 1" drop. With that 1" plus 1/2" more clearance on top that I have, that will give me enough to use a K&N E-1963 element which is 3" thick. The stock one is 1.75". I may have to fabricate the base myself using the
one I have and modifying it. Too bad someone like Breeze doesn't make one, I'll bet they'd sell a bunch.

Not really any point in going to a drop base on the oval air cleaner. The major restriction on these is the top is too close to the inlet on the carb. If you increase the filter thickness and drop the base you are right back where you started from. If you have room try a spacer between the carb and the filter.
