I was thinking of making up a tool roll to keep in the trunk. We all know no matter how long we think and plan we will leave something out. Lets hear what you would put in there and maybe you will come up with something I forgot.

Then wrapping in something like this https://www.atlas46.com/products.html#!/Yorktown-Tool-Roll%C2%AE/p/88260008/category=34912316

Thanks

Not in a tool roll but I've got all kinds of crap packed in the trunk! There is a cheapo socket set in the hard plastic box on the bottom. The red/black soft tool bag has a full set of combination wrenches, assorted screwdrivers, pliers, strippers, crimpers, allen wrenches, a digital VOM and test light as well as fuses, zip ties, crimp connectors and some wire. Most importantly is a copy of my wiring schematic and EEC-IV codes (and a pair of glasses so I can see the damn things :(). Also shoved in there is a TFI module, TPS sensor, coil and a couple of long plug wires. There is a set of jumper cables behind the bag and the whole mess is strapped to the upper floor. That round green top is a container of wet wipes wrapped up in a towel.

More than necessary? Yeah, probably. Knock on wood ;) --the only thing that has been needed on my car in 13 years and twenty some thousand miles was an allen wrench to tighten up a windwing bracket that came loose on the way home from the London Cobra Show several years ago. Lots of my tools and some of my spare parts have been used on roadside repairs for others though when we've been traveling in groups and problems have cropped up.

Worst case---I've got a truck & trailer at home and a best buddy who knows where the keys are!

Not shown in the photo but always there is my waterproof car cover. Usually I drive through the rain but there have been times when the downpour was so heavy that I've pulled onto a side road, put the cover on the car then got back in and waited it out in my 4 wheeled tent!

Call me Mr. "If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing". The most expensive tool kit that I hope I'll never use. In addition to the wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, and pliers, also got a battery jump starter, 12v tire pump with repair kit, plus tape and fuses.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Power Probe and jumper leads, latex gloves, and a roll of Shop Towels (the blue paper towels.)

I have almost the exact set of tools as Jeff. I would add fix-a-flat, duct tape and electrical tape.

Wow! Nicely done. Love the hold down straps in the trunk!

I have a tool roll from a set of bike tools. Great for laying on the ground if you need it. I do keep the whole thing in a tool bag for all the other loose stuff.
Here are a couple I didn't see mentioned: Spare relays. Some rope. A spare hidden battery cutoff key.
Heat sleeves. Keeps you from burning your arms. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mec-mhs-05-500

I know a guy with fuel injection that does long trips. He keeps a carb and low pressure fuel pump in his trunk and has used it twice.

It's hard to prep for everything. That is where a AAA card kicks in.

A friend of my son sent him an Atlas Tool Roll. The box it came in has the full Declaration of Independence printed on the bottom. Pretty cool!
