I've seen some posts out there from Gordon and others on hit or miss of being able to pull/reinstall the trans without pulling the engine. All very helpful but wondering if someone has been successful in removing/reinstalling the TKO600 form a gen2 coyote with alum bell and can share any details of their experience? Plan would be to pick up a harbor freight trans jack..

Haven't done it with a coyote, But have done it many times with other engines. . However, the coyote moves the trans forward about 2 inches, which will make it easier than a 4.6 which I have done. I assume you have a MKIII or forward with the removable trans mount. If so , it should be no problem. Remove the tranny mount and the shifter, not just the handle, the shifter that is in the trans with 6 bolts, driveshaft, wiring etc. and slide it back out of the bellhousing, then down in the front.

This doesn't sound good. What happened?

Sorry, nothing... I just didn't want to start a bell housing debate. I'm contemplating going to a QT steel bell. Kicking myself that I didn't just do this to start and it will always bug me. Planning a swap.

I would not pull a trans to change the bellhousing. There are likely a million cars out there with coyotes and aluminum bellhousings.
If its good enough for Ford , its good enough for me.
Remember the biggest limiting factor here is the contact patch at the rear tires and the pavement.
YOU will be in the woods long before your bellhousing fails.
Your risk is much greater with a Harbor freight trans jack.

Thanks for the feedback. I get it... prob reading too much with not having my roadster here and overthinking it. Was inquiring more on what it would take and if could do without engine pull.
I also need to repair the biggest bonehead move I made on the build. When installing the trans mount and getting it properly shimmed for pinion angle I needed longer bolts and used longer ones with shank. Brain wasn't on and hit it with my impact and stripped out the alum thread in the trans. Have 2 lock nuts and washer on the top now to lock it down which I'm sure is ok but plan to drill and re-tap to larger size. May be easier with trans out. I was embarrassed to share this...

As Railroad stated above, Helicoil. It is much stronger and more forgiving than a larger bolt in the aluminum.

As far as the original question about pulling the transmission, It's easy to do but the shifter has to come off from the top before the transmission will slide back far enough to get the input shaft out of the bellhousing. I've pulled mine several times on a lift without using a transmission jack but one would help with the heavy lifting.
