How does one get clear front turn signals on the MK4 does it come with them, do I ask factory five for them or do they need to be purchased separately from a vendor?

Factory 5 doesn't sell them.

I've got them on #9365. As said, from the outfit above

That's what I have. From Rogers Motors. I think the part no. is RM00770. The amber LED is from SuperBright LED's, part no. 1157-A45-T

Thanks for the info! So the lenses and rim work with the FFR supplied lamp?

Very cool. What’s the wiring schematic look like to get this function ?

Yes. The lens screws on to the lamp fixture (about a 1/8th to 1/4 turn, can't remember which). The ring is just held on by press fit/friction on the lens. I didn't think that the ring just being pressed on would work, but it seems to stay on just fine.

I did use the Kliener O-ring trick, although a smaller thickness of O-ring, not so much for aesthetics, but to help keep the moisture out. https://www.ffcars.com/threads/42-cent-upgrade.484369/

Picked some up from Cobra Performance, it seems to be a sister site to finish line, although the shipping was very quick. In fact they initially sent the wrong ones and immediately shipped out the correct ones.

FYI, these seem to be very high quality but are not compatible to just switch lenses with the FFR versions.

Hey John D, how do you wire up the lights to get the daytime running lights function to work ?

I have DRLs using the bright filament of the front signals. The module came from webelectricproducts.com . Since they use the bright filaments of the bulbs, and I was using incandescent bulbs, they would get quite hot and started to melt the lenses and bodies. I got new assemblies from ********** (several years ago) and use LED bulbs and now they work very well. The system uses the turn indicator filaments but when signaling a turn the other side shuts off so there is no mistaking which side is blinking. The product number is DRL-1.
HTH.

Are the clear signals DOT legal in CA? I thought they had to be amber?

You use an amber lamp (bulb) in them. Many 60's cars had clear lenses with amber lamps.

I lost an amber cover during transport to paint. Bought a replacement one from cobra restorers and also grabbed 2 clear ones while I was at it. I converted my fronts to amber LED but note you will need to change the flasher relay to grounded electronic if not done so yet.

Are these plug and play or did you need to change to a different flasher relay?

99 out of 100 you'll have to use an "electronic" flasher instead of an old school thermal flasher. The LED's don't draw enough current to cycle a thermal style.
The electronic versions have a timer circuit instead of relying upon load. Napa part number (https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NF_EP50?impressionRank=1&keywordInput=nf+ep50)

These are the "switchback" style LED's (https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniature-and-subminiature-bulbs/1157-switchback-led-bulb-dual-function-60-smd-led-tower-a-type-bay15d-retrofit-car/1915/) I used on the front of 9365, with the clear lenses>

FFR likely has the electronic flasher relay as it was supplied with my coupe since FFR uses LEDs on that car. It’s a direct swap for the one that comes with the Ron Francis Wire harness plus a ground wire. I don’t have my car at the moment as it’s in upholstery otherwise I’d get the manufacturer and part number off it. I can tell you it’s FFR part number 33530 from my parts list for my Coupe.

John D., would you also be willing to share the wiring schematic to make the daytime running lights work with me? I really like to way these look and operate. Would be a nice addition to my FIA. Thanks in advance.

I'm using switchback lights and clear lenses on #2503. I gave mine a load of functionality. I have a Diode Dynamics PWM LED dimmer so I get 2 light levels: Side-lights (Low) and Driving-lights (High). Also a light sensing relay to automatically put Driving-Lights on in low ambient light.

1: Ignition OFF and light switch ON at first position: Side-lights on front (Low), Side-lights on rear, gauges off
2: Ignition OFF and light switch ON at second position: Sidelights on front (Low), Side-lights on rear, headlights on and gauges off
3: Ignition ON and light switch ON at first position: Driving-lights on front (High), Side-lights on rear, gauges on
4: Ignition ON and light switch ON at second position: Sidelights on front (Low) and Side-lights on rear, headlights on and gauges on
5: Ignition ON, light switch OFF, low ambient light: Driving-lights on front (High) and Side-lights on rear, gauges on

Attached schematic shows this part of the circuitry highlighted
