I plan to powder coat my exposed panels like many of you. Aside from these Cobra projects one of my favorite builds I've seen was a resto mod I watched on Youtube of a Challenger barn find. When they had the car completely striped they painted the engine bay gloss black. It was incredible looking. Now that was stamped steal vs thinner aluminum. I would like to go with gloss but I am wondering if you would then see any waves or rivet pinch points and such. Though all the build threads I've seen most use a matt or satin.
In the forums collective wisdom is there any technical reason I should not powder coat my aluminum panels gloss black?

I was just reading elsewhere that the concern with a gloss finish is that it more readily reveals surface imperfections in the underlying material.

Gloss black black powder coat and shiny silver was the basic theme of my #7750 Mk4 Roadster build. I liked it. No concerns with surface imperfections, waves, rivet pinch, whatever. Did need to be polished pretty frequently as it shows dust and dirt. Also gloss black will show scratches. So need to be a little careful.
