View Full Version : Drake Fire Extinguisher Mount
Does anyone know if the drake fire extinguisher mount (see link below) will fit behind the center dash support from FFR? I'm using fire extinguisher also in the link below. Or, is the strap that comes with the extinguisher good enough and will fit behind dash support?

Thanks
I have the same mount and extinguisher and if my car wasn't covered right now I'd get you some actual measurements. In my opinion, mounting it as you are asking may be possible, but would potentially make getting the extinguisher out in a hurry a challenge. The bracket is pretty easy to operate, but you need to be able to pull the release and rotate the extinguisher away from the bracket enough to then remove it from the pivot. I considered the same location initially, but didn't think there was enough room to easily operate the release. It will be even more complicated with the dash support. I ended up mounting mine on the angled panel at the rear of the trans tunnel.

I have the exact same mount and extinguisher and came to the same conclusion as Papa, would be too difficult to get to under the dash (and would get in the way of my coffee). I put it on the very back of the transmission tunnel, just below were Papa did but on the tunnel cover (my elbows don't get back there). As for the clamshell mount that comes with it, I read some places that it could accidently release in a crash turning it into a missile so opted for the drake, I also thought the red button looked cool. I have seen several folks who have used the standard mount so it may be perfectly fine.

I tried one. It didn't work for me.
