Hey guys,

I just pulled out my filler hoses and fuel caps to throw those on, and of course my aluminum fuel tanks have a 2 1/4" opening and the hoses don't fit. Did a little searching and looks like my best option is to pick up a 2" to 2 1/4" hose reducer and then couple it together with with a 2" to 2" 90 deg steel coupler. Here are the links to what I found on eBay.

I haven't had the body on in years, but just eyeballing it, it looks like I'll have plenty of room for this. Here is a pic of about how far this filler will come out. What do you guys think?

They fit, the hose just bends a little

I doubt that will work. There just isn't that much room. The inside of the hose is going to have to be pretty close to contacting the chassis. I think on the aluminum tanks, I ended up taking a rubber hose coupler that would fit onto the opening of the tank, cutting it in half and then putting the FFR filler neck hose overtop of that....basically installing a "bushing" between the tank inlet and the filler neck.

Thanks for the reply on this one Shane. Looks like a run down to Napa is in store for me today.

Shane to the rescue once again!!! I had to go to 3 auto parts stores to find what I needed, but the final Napa (second one of this adventure) actually had what I needed. Fit right over the 2 1/4" filler snugly and also took up the entire gap to the FF supplied filler hoses.

Side note, its always fun going to parts stores that have very experienced guys stare at the parts you bring in trying to find out what they come off of LOL.

I am fitting aluminum tanks now and I am not having much success finding a filler hose, nor understanding what is going on in the above photo. The hose attached to the tank looks like just what I need. What is a part number for that?

In the picture above the tube that is on the tank should be in your kit. The tube that I am holding in my hand, I needed to purchase, cut to length, and slide over the inlet on the aluminum tanks before I slide on the filler hose provided in the kit and secure in place with 2 hose clamps.

I have the tubing left in my hand extra if you need some. If you like, cover shipping and a few bucks and I'll send you what I have left. Probably enough to do 4 tanks total.

The one issue I ran into when I started driving my GTM recently is that when filling up with fuel the hose at the station didn't stop when the fuel reached full. Fuel spilled all over the side of the car. Is anyone doing anything to deal with this issue or is this maybe a one off with this station?

My filler tubes look nothing like what is clamped to the tank. I have a first gen with filler tube part numbers, 25339 and 25340. Both ends are for a 2" connection. What size is the filler opening mouth of your aluminum tanks? Thanks

My aluminum tank openings are 2 1/4”

Are your hoses 25339 and 25340? I'm wondering if the original builder cut the large end off of mine.

Can't wait to have that issue.

Yes, those are the PNs I have for my Gen 2 build. Yours should look like mine, not sure why the original builder would cut the large end off. Probably never know.

Thank you for that info. My solution seems to be getting another set from FF.

Glad to help. Just note if your aluminum tanks are like mine w 2 1/4” you’ll need to do what I did above that Shane above.

I actually have 3" openings.
