I ordered a type 65 complete kit last week. Build completion date is June 19th. I’m looking forward to it coming in. I am collecting parts at the moment. I have a 2013 mustang 5.0 and a car 03 cobra T56 at the moment. I am planning on getting a 87-93 8.8 straight rear axle within a week or 2. I am also looking for a few parts (8.8 31 spline axles, diff, 3.73 gears, Aeromotive fpr etc)

I picked up a fox 8.8 rear end yesterday. I dropped it off to be sand blasted and powder coated today. I ordered 31 spline 5 lug axles, 31 spline traction lok differential and 3.73 gear kit. I’ve been looking at the pinion flange which is a 1330 small bolt pattern flange. It doesn’t have the plastic around it (that looks to be a dust shield for the pinion seal) and it has a slight groove where the seal rises. After thinking on it for a while, I ordered a 03-04 cobra spec 1350 pinion flange that has the bigger bolt pattern(4.25” vs 3.5?). I figured since I have a 27 spline t56 output shaft that I might as well have a bigger flange . I am planning on getting a custom driveshaft built anyway. What is everyone’s thoughts on the larger pinion flange? Hopefully I didn’t mess up ordering it. It’s running through my head that hopefully there is enough room for the extra 1 inch flange and whether the larger flange will flex as much as the smaller one.

Nice! You'll be all ready when it gets there.

I got my rear end powder coated and ready to be put together. It was a job cleaning all of the sand out but it’s clean now.143503143503 I got all of my rear end parts in except for the 3.73 gear kit. I will have to wait til next weekend to put everything together. I painted the diff cover bolts and put it on just to see what it looked like.

Have you found a 1st Gen Coyote controls pack kit yet? I have read they are no longer in production. Without the controls pack, making the Coyote work for you could be more difficult.

I saw a few sites that still have them. There is a few that are used for sale. I am going to try to make the harness that came with the engine work. I thought about buying a used one the other day. Found a decent deal on one but don’t want to get one until I get to the point of knowing that I can’t reuse the harness that I have. I keep trying to wait about buying a Moroso oil pan and pickup. I’m hoping I can put the engine/tranny in the car and put the oil pan on while it’s in the car.

If going with the OEM harness and PCM, you are going to need everything from the donor like the fuel pump and control module as the OEM system is returnless. I went the controls pack route for my Coyote, so no experience in using the OEM PCM and harness. If there is someone here that has gone the donor route, I would check to see what it takes to make it all work. At a minimum the original PCM is going to have to be reprogrammed to remove the PATS and maybe other features to make it work in a FF. Art at WireDiet converted the OEM harnesses and PCMs for use in a FF with the earlier modular motors. He modified the harness for a 2004 Mach 1 with the DOHC 4.6L engine for me. Great work and the car started on the first try. However, I spent about $1300 for the wire diet, almost as much as the cost for a new controls pack. Sometimes spending a bit more money can save you time and frustration in the effort to save a few bucks.

Yeah, I haven’t checked into pricing on pats removal and other things with the factory harness. I have heard that it’s almost as much as a control pack. I have the Cpu, engine wiring and throttle pedal. If I can get pats deleted and do the hacking myself, it may be worth it. I was planning on just wiring the fuel pump through a relay that is initiated with the key switch.(not through Cpu). I coyote swapped a f100 and used the control pack. It was almost too easy. I hated spending $1400 on it though. Thanks for the info.

I got the transmission bolted the engine Friday. I really liked the moroso pan. I’m glad that they planned for someone having a cable clutch also. The drivers side of the pan is notched in the area that the cable would come through. 145641

I really like the FR500 style wheels. I wish I could get them in a 12" width.

I got the call from Stewart transport last week and they are scheduled to deliver July the 4th week. I also went with a Holley terminator x max to run the coyote.
