I went online to order the new $260 trunk lid, to retrofit to my mk3...however shipping was showing as $300!!
Just wondering if that is correct, seems awfully high for a part that only weighs 21 lb, I've ordered larger and heavier things online before (not from them) and paid WAY less for shipping. I have emailed FFR to confirm this was not a mistake but no answer yet.

Which email did you send your message to? I'll double check we received it, and help get your quote. It's not just the weight, but also the box size that drives the shipping cost, and we have also seen FedEx's rates go up recently.

I did a repaint on a trunklid that got damaged a year or so ago and the one way shipping from Indiana to Louisiana was $335 through UPS in a 36x33x17 box with $500 insurance.

Email sent!

Similar to what Jeff mentioned, the box we ship the trunk in is 36x30x20, and that's what really drives the FedEx rate more than the weight. The weight we have on the parts catalog isn't even including the box and wrapping we use.

Thanks for the feedback guys....I guess that's not out of line.
Dave, got your email, thank you for the response. Will be calling shortly. (fyi I used partsales@factoryfiveracing.com....wrong and it bounced but I didn't check...)
Thanks again!

FEDEX uses what they call dimentional weight AKA "Dim Weight" large light weight boxes takeup room that other regular sized pkgs. would occupy on their planes and trucks so they use special rates for these items.
