View Full Version : Can anyone tell me what spindles I have ?
Can anyone tell from this picture what spindles I have. Looking to up grade brakes don't want to order the wrong stuff. Also any input on what to do or what you did would be great. I have read some posts only to be more confused . It is a MK1 with 17 inch pin drive wheels . It stops with a lot of pedal pressure .I can lock them up on dirt, don't think I could on pavment they look like stock ford brakes just don't know the year . the kit was shipped in 1998 not sure when it was finished don't know who the builder was
Thanks Kato

Well...you’re showing us a picture of a caliper, not a spindle however since it’s a Fox body caliper we can extrapolate that you have Fox spindles. High pedal pressure with poor brake performance is usually an indication that he pedal modification was not done.

Thank you Jeff I will check on the pedal mod as I remember from my build 20 tears ago I should see some welding had been done on the pedal arm is this correct
Thanks Kato

Can confirm, that looks like a Fox spindle.

Regarding the pedal mod, the way Mike Everson does it, it might look like it came from a factory that way. That is, he bores a new pivot tube hole, welds that in, then cuts the old pivot tube and top of the pedal arm away. I believe the original pivot tubes are swaged in, so that might give you pointer, if your pivot tube is welded in.
