Hey everyone. SO, I found a new gen 2 crate motor in my city....brand new never used. may be able to get it between 5 and 6k. Seems like a good deal.

DOES a gt350 intake fit on a GEN 2 coyote AND....would the Gen 2 cover fit over the intake?

Also, I believe I am going to use a TREMEC 3650 that is rebuilt new from https://spprecision.com/products/mustang-tr3650-transmission-for-sale.html

I know that it bolts right on to a coyote (or have been told) and fits right into a roadster. Does this all sound right?

Thanks!!!

I am not sure which Tremec # it is but one of them, a 6 speed, is longer and can usually only be used w/ IRS. The drive shaft would be too short to use w/ a solid axle.

If you read (and believe...) what's written in the Mustang forums, the 2018+ intake is a better choice for the Gen 2 Coyote than a GT350 intake. You might want to do some searching there to learn more. Some guys are modding the Gen 2 cover to fit on the Gen 3 Coyote. So have to think it would fit on a Gen 2 with a 2018+ intake. No idea about the GT350.

As for the 5-speed 3650, not a expert on that either. Except it is talked about quite a bit on this forum. Again I'd recommend searching. Some have used and it will fit. But my takeaway with a quick look is there are multiple versions of the 3650. Some work. Some not so much. Variations in spline counts, clutch actuation, and improvements made over the years. Early ones weren't very strong. Later ones better.

I have used a 3650 transmission and it shifts nice and shifter position was great in my hot rod. The cobra is shorter so you will have the shifter arm going forward which works fine and the trans may last a long time if you don't get traction. Also I agree use the 18+ mustang intake manifold. bolts right on and is way cheaper than the gt350 unit.

Also 3650 is a 5 speed.

My thoughts right now are

Gen 2 coyote. 2018 plus intake (thanks Paul and Stack) 2004 tremec 3650 transmission, IRS rear, Mustang Brakes all around. Just a driver for me. Anyone see any issues with all of these going together?

One thing boost those mustang brakes. Many guys are disappointed in the braking power if you don't.

Maybe maybe not. Have the Mustang brakes from the complete kit without power assist. First time out got real nervous with the cars inability to stop on the street forget Auto-X.

Swapped out the FFR pads for Hawk Pads. Have run two flavors. HPS & HP+. Both pads will stop me in under 100ft from 65mph with normal 79 year old legs.

Started with the HPS then running some Auto-X for fun & handling experience moved up to the more aggressive HP+ pads. Am now back to HPS pads.

The + pads are more aggressive than the S versions. That said the dust very heavily. The S pad will give me 90%+ of the + pad for how I use the car as a Daily Driver.

TIP on dirty pads. Armor All Outlast is a great product. Some HP+ dust wiped off with one sweep of a DRY paper shop towel

I have the 11" mustang F and the older 11 1/16" Rear (IRS) on mine with hydroboost and it works like a dream. Stops on a dime and have had a couple "panic" stop events. I'm a happy customer of them.

I confirm you are good to go with a 2004 tremec 3650 transmission. Avoid 2005 and later 3650 which have a remote shifter.

You’ll need a 10 splines clutch. The clutch from a 04 4.6/3650 fits the Coyote flywheel. Make sure it can handle the added power. A Stage 1 is generally sufficient.
