Wild! A color for everyone. Any stripes? Whether chrome or blacked out, it should turn some heads. Yeah, excellent work, Jeff!

And here I thought it wasn't easy being green.

Very interested to see how this one turns out. Will it be gloss or a flat?

There are a lot of color schemes out there that I see and say "I wouldn't use that color on my car, but it still looks nice."
Totally not judging here...while it's not a color I would chose, I'm excited to see the final outcome!

When I was at Jeff's with my car, he told me he had a couple, dead set on purple. He said Barney purple, or close to it. SOOO, I don't know what to expect. That looks like primer, not a top coat????
One tooo many cold ones, or he's hanging out with the Bat:eek:

OK, I guess it's time to end the suspense and speculation...sorry for the letdown but it isn't going to be anything exciting :( The pink/purple is a relatively new high build primer by Evercoat (same company that manufactures Rage, the various Featherfills, Slick Sand and other products) called Optex. It sprays pink and sands to light gray. Here it is all blocked and sanded and ready for application of the 2K Urethane Primer Surfacer:

https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=141997&d=1612443720

I figured the images of a pink Cobra would spark some interesting comments, and it did that :)

BTW, for anyone who is interested the product sprays out and lays down well but doesn't sand as easily as Slick Sand (Ken Pike said he observed the same when he tried it and Miller said...well, never mind what he said---he was just all giddy over the pink :p). I'm calling this an experiment and don't expect to use it again but for someone who feels that they need the guide coat properties that the color change provides and doesn't mind some extra sanding it can be an option to using either a wet or dry guide coat over the high build primer.

Cheers,
Jeff

Does anyone else get the impression from that picture that the car violently shook the ugly color off like a dog shakes of water?

Sdonnel
02-04-2021, 01:36 PM
Or it actually ran towards the guy with the sandpaper and not away from it. I thought the pink ceiling paint that dried white was pretty slick (for blind guys like me) and here someone does it in a product for the cars. Don't worry Jeff, I leave all material decisions to you when it comes to the paint and body work.

Believe it or not but there is a pink cobra out and about. I met a woman, at what used to be the Calisle Inport and Kit Car show in Carlisle Pennsylvania, and she had a bubble gum pink Cobra. I wish I had taken a picture. It was not a FFR product. I think it was Shell Valley. It was quite the site to see.

Yeah Rich, having the sandpaper concession for us painter types would be a pretty lucrative gig...on a par with the guy who has the contract to supply toilet paper to the Tri-Delt sorority house ;)

Well then that makes two. Factory Five owner Preston Kunda's car is pink in honor of his little girl Miranda who lost a battle with cancer at 7 years old. He promised her that he'd paint it whatever color she chose, and that color was Princess Pink. The car wears the tag "Miranda's Carriage". She was a very special little girl who despite her young age and illness was deeply concerned with provide needs for underprivileged children and her family has worked hard to continue her legacy with The Miranda Faith Foundation.

Jeff,

I think you might have stumbled on to something here. Recycle the sandpaper into toilet paper!!! We're bound to have another run on TP at some point, so just keep it in storage until there is a shortage and I promise people will buy it.

Well... since Jeff "let the cat out of the bag" so to speak... I'm the Guinea Pig on the primer test out.

No, it's not gonna be a candy Plum, or Purple... I'm still tossing around between "Mango Tango" or "Sinamon Stick"
